Ocasio-Cortez Is Under Fire From Big Labor Over Green New Deal

Rep Ocasio-Cortez

It would appear that Big Labor isn’t too supportive of socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal, claiming that it would bring “immediate harm to millions” upon implementation.

According to the Daily Caller, the AFL-CIO, America’s largest labor union, sent a letter to AOC calling her famous legislation “not achievable or realistic,” and demanded a seat at the table when crafting future legislation:

“We welcome the call for labor rights and dialogue with labor, but the Green New Deal resolution is far too short on specific solutions that speak to the jobs of our members and the critical sections of our economy,” the letter, signed by 10 national labor unions on the AFL-CIO’s energy committee, says.

“We will not accept proposals that could cause immediate harm to millions of our members and their families,” the letter says. “We will not stand by and allow threats to our members’ jobs and their families’ standard of living go unanswered.”

AOC, for being a socialist, doesn’t seem to care too much about how many people are working in America. In fact, thanks to her SXSW appearance in Austin, her excitement seems to revolve around the opposite. According to her, we should be excited about the prospect of robots taking away jobs from humans, and we should tax businesses at 90 percent, thus decreasing the number of human hands they can hire.

The left-leaning AFL-CIO isn’t the only leftist entity bashing the Green New Deal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) continuously bashes the proposed legislation, like other leftist figures such as Michael Bloomberg, and eight of the largest environmental groups have expressed disapproval of it.

The fact of the matter is that it’s just a bad idea filled with what amounts to unrealistic wishes that would be made by the most uneducated college socialist.
