One Democrat Is Noticeably Absent During Roll Out of Dem's New Climate Bill

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is either flexing her political muscles or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has picked up her toys and gone away…situationally speaking, of course.

According to the Daily Caller, the Democrats have rolled out their new climate change legislation which looks like a very watered down version of the Green New Deal. However, the Green New Deal’s loudest champion was nowhere to be seen:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi described the Climate Action Now Act as one of many steps toward Democratic efforts to confront global warming. In particular, the bill aims to prevent President Donald Trump from removing the United States from the non-binding Paris Climate accord.

The bill is a watered-down version of New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal, which called for shifting completely away from fossil fuels and toward green energy. The GND was torpedoed in the Senate on Tuesday after Republicans voted en masse against the resolution while Democrats voted present.

Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat, was not present Wednesday during the roll out of the Climate Action Act.

Many a House Democrat was present for the unveiling, but as you can see from the picture tweeted below, Ocasio – we’re going to die in 12 years – Cortez is noticeably absent from the proceedings.

The Green New Deal died, somewhat laughably, in the Senate on Tuesday after it failed to get a single “yes” vote from lawmakers. Democrats, even those who co-sponsored the bill, resolved to only vote present during the vote, signaling that they weren’t brave enough to vote with a flat “no.”

The Daily Caller reached out to Pelosi’s office to see what the reason for Ocasio-Cortez’s absence was, but she did not respond.
