Rep. Ilhan Omar’s recent comments may not have gone over well with the general public, but after treating 9/11 like it was no big deal, her coffers have become more full.

According to The Hill, Omar has seen a boost of over $800,000 according to FEC filings, with most of the donations coming from ActBlue:

In a Federal Election Commission filing released Monday, Omar’s campaign reported a massive haul of almost $827,000, reflecting a jump in individual contributions that eclipsed her total of approximately $41,000 from the last fundraising cycle.

Omar’s office did not immediately return a request for comment from The Hill.

Politico noted that about half of her donations, $415,000, came from contributions under $200 while about $631,000 came from donors using the ActBlue online platform.

According to Politico, Omar is outraising other congressional incumbents by leaps and bounds, including Democrats running in swing districts. While Omar’s district is considered heavily Democratic, her recent take about the terrorist attack on 9/11 being an event of “some people” who “did something” put her into hot water.

In fact, her comments generated so much outrage that President Donald Trump tweeted a video of Omar giving her comments about 9/11 and interspersed it with footage from the day when 3,000 people lost their lives.

“WE WILL NEVER FORGET,” tweeted Trump along with the video.

Democrats have, for the most part, been running to Omar’s defense, going so far as to say that calling out Omar for her comments and ridiculing her for it is “incitement,” or encouraging violence against her.

Democrats increasing Omar’s funds as a result of her controversies, specifically treating 9/11 as a mundane event, says more about how radical the Democrats have become than other events so far ever have.
