Hard-Left Site ThinkProgress Is Up for Sale Thanks to a Loss of Millions of Dollars

What used to be bastions of leftist news and thought are collapsing like a house of cards as the Trump administration thunders forward despite their best efforts. Leftist news sites have been facing layoffs and cutbacks left and right, and the once mighty anti-Bush site ThinkProgress is now facing its own problems.

According to the Daily Beast the house that the Center for American Progress built is up for sale due to what is being described as “severe financial strains during the Trump era”:

“Unfortunately, like so many other news outlets that have relied on advertising to fund its work, ThinkProgress has seen a significant drop in revenue in recent years, along with other financial strains. In addition, events over the last few years have underscored the divergent missions of American Progress and ThinkProgress,” said Navin Nayak, executive director of the Center for American Progress Action Fund.

“For all of these reasons, we announced to the ThinkProgress staff today that we are searching for a new publisher for the news site. This is a tough decision since ThinkProgress has been a part of CAP Action almost since its founding. While ThinkProgress’ financial challenges are unsustainable for an organization like CAP Action, we are hopeful that there are publishers who would be better able to support ThinkProgress’ mission and better positioned to maximize the significant value ThinkProgress has built up.”

The Daily Beast listed these financial troubles as a “$3 million gulf between revenues and expenses in 2019” made up of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of ad revenue and contributions that the site just isn’t bringing in any more.

This site still reportedly brings in a solid number of visitors, with 12 million page hits and 7.5 million unique visitors in June. That’s all well and good, but despite this, the pattern continuously seen throughout leftist media is that the interest just isn’t there like it used to be. Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, and CNN are all going through the same problems. These were once powerful sites that found themselves successful during the Democrats’ age of prosperity between the anti-Bush sentiment and the pro-Obama worship.

However, the Trump-era has had a nasty effect on the left who have overreacted in response to someone so bombastic being elected to office. The resulting bitter taste the leftist media has left in the mouths of those who used to consume their product has caused them to walk away.

If you were to ask me, I would advise the staff of ThinkProgress to learn some kind of skill that would help them find work in this digital age ruled by technology. Something that would make them more attractive to those seeking to hire people who have experience with using computers, and have a working knowledge of how this technology works in the background…

…but what skill could that be?
