Actually, Trump Was "On the Ground" During 9/11 Aftermath

For some reason, President Donald Trump of New York — that part is important — saying that he was among the effort for cleanup after the terrorist attack that took place on 9/11 but adding that he’s not considering himself a “first responder” meant that he considers himself a first responder to the left.

The jury is still out on why, but I’m more and more convinced that Trump Derangement Syndrome is real by the day.

“I was down there also, but I’m not considering myself a first responder,” Trump said during the signing of the 9/11 first responders bill. “But I was down there. I spent a lot of time down there with you.”

CNN host Chris Cillizza wrote an entire article about Trump’s words, saying that Trump is associating himself — very closely — with the men and women who were the first to respond to planes being crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.”

He didn’t, because Trump said in that very speech that he wasn’t.

Cillizza also went over various quotes that Trump said down the line about those days after the wreckage.

“Everyone who helped clear the rubble — and I was there, and I watched, and I helped a little bit — but I want to tell you: Those people were amazing,” Trump said in a speech in Buffalo in 2016. “Clearing the rubble. Trying to find additional lives. You didn’t know what was going to come down on all of us — and they handled it.”

Once again, we see Trump using terms of “they” when describing the people who actually did the hard work of cleaning up New York and rescuing those who were in need. He notes that he was there watching and helped “a little bit,” but he doesn’t use the word “we,” it’s “they.”

The entirety of the purpose of Cillizza and the left who follow this same narrative is to give off the impression that Trump is lying about his involvement in the 9/11 aftermath.

“So why should we be surprised that he has a long track record of suggesting he was someone involved in the cleanup after the 9/11 attacks when it’s clear he wasn’t?” asks Cillizza.

Only Trump was. This video appeared on Twitter showing Trump not only there, but discussing the efforts he’s putting forth to help New York, the city he lives in, in the aftermath. He even expresses knowledge of what goes on for the workers and how dangerous it is, noting workers are being forced to run when a whistle blows out of fear of collapsing structures.

Again, he uses the terms “they” a lot. He doesn’t include himself among them as Cillizza is claiming Trump is trying to do.

Don’t you think that if Trump considered himself one of them he would have immediately done so? It’s odd that he’s continuing to use the same kind of distancing language for a guy trying to include himself among the first responders.

So let’s put this nonsense to bed. Trump was there, he was a part of the effort, though he’s not considering himself among those doing the dirty and dangerous work, nor among the first responders.

This is a non-issue being turned into a much bigger issue and is only one more nasty thing the left is trying to heap onto Trump in order to reduce his approval by 2020.
