Michael Bloomberg Suggests Incredibly Racist Solution to Gun Crime

In a stunning manifestation of the phrase “the soft bigotry of low expectations,” 2020 candidate Michael Bloomberg suggested that minorities are incapable of not killing each other if they have guns and suggested we make illegal to let them have firearms in order to keep them alive.

According to the Washington Times, Bloomberg was speaking at the Aspen Institute when he said 95 percent of murders fall into a specific category: a male minority between the ages of 15 and 25. This prompted him to suggest that young black men are already under the belief that they’re going to die anyway and thus think it’s “a joke” to kill each other:

Cities need to get guns out of this group’s hands and keep them alive, the former three-term mayor said, according to The Times.

“These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed,” said Mr. Bloomberg, who funds the gun-control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety. “They just don’t have any long-term focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger.”

Mr. Bloomberg brought up the New York Police Department’s stop-and-frisk practices, recalling a time during his last year in office when a Baptist minster in Harlem invited him to speak at their church, The Times reported.

“While I’m sitting there waiting for him to introduce me, he said to his congregation, ‘You know, if every one of you stopped and frisked your kid before they went out at night, the mayor wouldn’t have to do it,’” Mr. Bloomberg said. “And so I knew I was going to be OK with that audience.”

Where to start?

For one, while there is a horrific murder problem in inner-city minority communities, specifically where drugs and gangs are a commonality, we’ve learned that taking away guns won’t improve the problem. Millions of Americans own guns and in even the most gun saturated communities, gun crime is very low.

It’s not the gun, it’s the culture in that area. If you take away the guns, the gangs will resort to different means of killing each other, be it with knives or heavy objects. You’ll hardly see a slowdown in the murder rate at all.

This isn’t even counting the fact that the CDC itself has said that guns are used far more in defense than they are for an attack. Disarming an entire community in order to make them safer isn’t going to make them safer at all. You’d just be putting innocents at further risk.

But aside from that, what Bloomberg suggested is just flat-out racist. Keep in mind that he painted an entire skin color as incapable of controlling itself, and his suggestion was to control them by taking away their rights and putting them under a disadvantage against authorities.

If I recall correctly, a very bloody war was fought on American soil to stop that sort of nonsense.

Just another day in the life of a 2020 Democrat.
