The Morse Code Ep. 20: Cancel Cancel

The Morse Code

Cancel culture has never been more prevalent than it is right now. Online mobs are raging across the internet and ruining the lives of innocent people over mistakes both legitimate and imaginary. Things you said nearly a decade ago can be used against you in the court of public opinion.

They’ll try to destroy you in every way imaginable. They’ll deplatform you, get you fired, get people close to you fired. They’ll threaten you with violence and dig into your past. They’ll drag your personal life into the public square and use it to shame you in any way they can, whether it’s worthy of shame or not.

How can human beings do this to one another? It’s important to remember that cancel culture isn’t just people. The people are just puppets. Cancel culture is an idea, and it’s the idea that’s pulling the strings. The idea’s only concern is to impose itself on you and if you’re hoping capitulation to it will save you, then I regret to inform you that it won’t.

Cancel culture is a monster and its only concern is consumption. You can feed it all you want, but rest assured, you will be eaten.

In this episode of The Morse Code, I delve into the idea of cancel culture, what it is, examples of it, and how we combat it. Enjoy, and let me know what you think in the comments!
