Thanks to Biden's Failure in Afghanistan, Our Troubles Are Just Beginning

Horrific. It’s just one of the many words I could use to describe what’s going on in Afghanistan. We still have hundreds of Americans stuck there, waiting to leave as crowds of desperate Afghan refugees do anything they can to find passage to the shining city on the hill, away from all the madness that these terrorist groups wish to subject them to.

As has been covered on RedState, the Taliban’s blitzkrieg across the country was far more swift than anything experts could have anticipated, but then again, President Joe Biden wasn’t very interested in what would happen after he withdrew American forces over the course of a night. He just wanted it done, and now the Taliban is already organizing itself as the new governmental body in the country.

But now we have an old issue for new times, and I hate to disappoint those attempting to flee to America, but the absolute takeover by the Taliban means that at some point in the future, they will find their way here. If not them, then another terrorist group will.

Terrorism is, once again, a threat to our shores. This was highlighted by, of all places, MSNBC by author Frank Figliuzzi who had this to say on the matter:

Last Sunday, the Taliban captured Bagram Air Base and the prison there, and “released thousands of prisoners, including many senior Al Qaeda operatives,” Axios reported. “The prisoners were some of the Taliban’s most hardened fighters and could pose a threat not only to Afghan citizens but to American security interests.”

CNN reported that an estimated 5,000 to 7,000 prisoners were left behind following the withdrawal. The Bagram prison, Pul-e-Charkhi, was the biggest in Afghanistan and included a maximum-security cell block for Al Qaeda and Taliban prisoners. That’s a lot of hard-core terrorists looking for a fight and seeking vengeance against the Americans who helped capture them.

The Taliban’s rapid takeover of Afghanistan has raised concerns in the U.S. military and intelligence community of a similarly rapid resurgence of Al Qaeda and other terror groups who may, once again, view that country as their training and staging ground.

The Pentagon is already receiving information that the Taliban are already welcoming terrorist groups a “safe haven” including Al Qaeda according to the Daily Mail:

The new report by the Lead Inspector General for Operation Freedom’s Sentinel – the name of the U.S. mission in Afghanistan – said terrorist networks including ISIS had made the most of the Department of Defense’s drawdown.

‘As the DoD restructured its counterterrorism mission to locations outside of Afghanistan, ISIS—Khorasan exploited the political instability and rise in violence during the quarter by attacking minority sectarian targets and infrastructure to spread fear and highlight the Afghan government’s inability to provide adequate security,’ it said.

‘Additionally, the Taliban continued to maintain its relationship with al Qaeda, providing safe haven for the terrorist group in Afghanistan.’

There’s no telling how long it will take for an attack to happen, but there’s no reason to believe that any terrorist group given cover by the Taliban won’t eventually attempt one on our soil. They have a lot of reason to want to deal us a serious blow, and not just us either. America won’t be the only country that suffers an attack, as many western countries from Germany to the United Kingdom should be on high alert.

Despite what some media figures might think, these terrorists don’t operate by any strict moral code. Their goal is the death of their enemies and the forced implementation of Islam. They will slaughter women and children and no amount of woke complaining is going to make them stop.

Biden just opened pandora’s box and we can only hope that we can stop what walks through before it unleashes itself on us.
