There's Gender Dysphoria and Transgenderism, and to Defeat Both We Need to Understand the Difference

Not long ago, I went into the nitty gritty of the gender fluidity concept in order to point out that there are two schools of thought, albeit both schools think they're one and the same.

Firstly, there's what we know as "Gender Dysphoria." This is a mental illness usually brought on by some kind of trauma or bad brain wiring that has a person convinced they're a different sex than they actually are. Males will believe they're females and vice versa. It's not a very common mental illness, and when society was being far more honest with itself, less than one percent of people in the United States said they had this sickness.

Then there's what we know as "transgenderism." This phrase became popular after the transgender boom in 2015 when Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn Jenner and suddenly it was trendy to have a mental illness. This instantly became a political battle and the left has been using transgenderism as a tool to corrupt, recruit, and victimize people ever since.

While Gender Dysphoria and Transgenderism both deal with people denying their own sex to embrace one they're not (or one they've completely made up), one is an actual mental illness and the other is a political tool used to convince people they have one.

If you're a consistent reader of RedState, you'll notice reports popping up regularly about teachers and activists attempting to indoctrinate the youth with the idea of gender fluidity constantly. If you follow Libs of TikTok on X, you probably see a parade of "educators" proudly displaying their LGBT activism in their own classrooms. Events like "drag story hour" or "kid-friendly drag shows" are another tool used to introduce children to the concept of gender fluidity and normalize it for them.

This isn't for the purpose of "acceptance" for the sake of a more civilized and friendly America; this is a recruitment tool. You'll notice only one party truly embraces transgenderism, and that's because they use the idea to convince people that they not only have a mental illness when they don't, but also that having this mental illness automatically makes them a target for bigots, transphobes, and Republicans.

You'll notice that the vast majority of transgender people of voting age are intense anti-Republicans and pull the lever for Democrats without a second thought.

At the end of the day, transgenderism is a political sickness, not an actual mental illness. It's important to make this distinction because it matters in how we fight both of them.

For "Gender Dysphoria," we fight it with actual psychiatric care. The goal is to bring them back to reality, either by working through the trauma that they once endured in order to arrive at this mental illness or, if it's an actual brain issue, by giving them the proper treatments to help them correct that imbalance.

Transgenderism is another story. Many of these people were convinced through peer pressure, cult-like tactics, and oftentimes in their youth, where their ignorance and insecurity are preyed upon.

This is oftentimes a trend or a phase during youth brought on by some form of mainstream pressure or pressure from the education system. This can be tackled in a variety of ways, but it's best to begin fighting it at the source. School systems need to be invaded by parents, and the concepts need to be routed out, either by deposing school board members who are accepting and friendly to pushing transgenderism and/or having teachers fired that push it on children. Books that encourage and display transgenderism and sexual deviancy need to be cast out of school libraries.

As you're likely aware, this is happening quite often in our country already, and you know it's working because the left can't stop howling about it.

Arming your child with the tools to resist peer pressure and giving them the confidence to be themselves also goes a long way. It's hard to convince a person of a lie when they know the lie. Moreover, talk to your child about letting you know about any attempts to turn them, and let them know it's safe to speak to you about it. They may be facing a form of intimidation and feel isolated in dealing with these issues.

That's part of the tactic used to turn them. Let them know that you're a safe harbor and that you're ready to fight and defeat whoever is making them afraid or trying to convince them they're something they're not.

Remember, transgenderism is political, and it can be defeated through political action. It might come in the form of lawsuits or parents rallying together to depose and cast out those who would harm their children.

But it starts with knowing the difference between a political mind virus and an actual mental illness.
