CNN's Jake Tapper Calls out the Left for Its Antisemitism but Will It Make a Difference?

CNN's Jake Tapper took a moment during his CNN show to talk to a guest about the terrorist attack conducted by Hamas against innocent Israeli civilians. The gruesome murders and abductions that are still being counted included women and children with reports that the bodies of 40 babies were found, some of which were beheaded.

During this moment, Tapper noted that there was an element of an eye-opening moment for people on the left as the response from various groups and protesters on their own side showed a shocking amount of antisemitism.

"These last few days have been a real eye-opening period for a lot of people — a lot of Democrats, a lot of progressives — in terms of antisemitism on the left," said Tapper.

"A lot of people who seem more shocked about the dehumanizing language used by world leaders to describe Hamas than what Hamas actually perpetrated on Saturday," he continued.

On the fact that the left's response has been nothing short of disgusting, he's not wrong. What we've witnessed from groups from places like Harvard to protesters on the street has indeed been grotesque.

Even Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib is currently displaying a Palestinian flag in front of her office, and not only that, refused to speak at all about the beheaded Israeli babies when questioned.

Okay, so Tapper has highlighted something on the left that definitely needs to be called out. This leaves some questions.

It's good that Tapper did this, but one has to ask if he did it because he's legitimately disgusted or if he is doing it because there's no avoiding how bad this looks, and he doesn't want to get pulled down with his collective side in the bad rash of PR coming its way.

Moreover, if the left is willing to acknowledge that it has some serious problems with racism on its own side, something that the talking heads in its own party had denied was true, will there be a reckoning on the left and a realignment more toward the center and away from what is clearly a politically-based hatred of race?

My honest opinion?

Don't hold your breath.

While I certainly believe there are people on the left and in the Democrat Party who are horrified by the left's behavior enough to reconsider their party's alignment on the political graph, I sincerely doubt it will be enough to move the needle toward a more centrist and level-headed party. More likely, those who are disgusted enough will just infuse other parties with their vote.

The DNC is so infected with radicalism that it's unclear how it will ever pull itself back from the brink. Radicalism doesn't take "no" for an answer, and once radicals have infected a party, it's hard to dislodge them and drive them out.

So, while I can appreciate Tapper's words and believe they might trigger some self-reflection in voters here and there, I'm not willing to believe that it will cause any sobering up for a party that's become so radical that its members openly cheer the brutal death and mutilation of innocent children.
