They Can't Get Rid of Your Free Speech Rights, So the Plan Is to Make You Afraid to Practice Them

According to the Constitution, the rights we have are handed to us by God and thus cannot be stripped from us. They are unalienable...or they're supposed to be.

Rest assured, no one knows how difficult it is to take away rights from people than authoritarians. Reducing people from humans to objects that can be used, abused, and discarded is what authoritarians excel at. So, when authoritarians run into a brick wall that stops them from taking your rights away, they try to find a clever way to get you to just give up on them.

As Nick Arama wrote on Wednesday, Blaze reporter Steve Baker, a man who's been covering the January 6 story and helping torpedo false Democrats narratives, has been ordered to report to the FBI's local Dallas office in shorts and sandals.

The charges? We'll let you know when they decide to finally reveal them:

In more disturbing news, there's news that the FBI is going to charge The Blaze journalist Steve Baker on Friday. The thing that's even more unusual is that while they have been torturing him with the threat of possible prosecution all this time, they still wouldn't tell him what the charges are and what they are claiming he did. He covered the riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6 as an independent journalist.

...

Baker's attorneys believe that this is a retaliation against him for his reporting about Jan. 6 that has embarrassed the DOJ. Among the stories that Baker has done has been calling into question the testimony of a member of Rep. Nancy Pelosi's security detail, Capitol Police Special Agent David Lazarus, and questions regarding the pipe bomb found at the DNC. The Blaze reported that the man who found that bomb was a Capitol Police officer, according to sources.

With no charges in sight and an arrest warrant issued regardless, it's pretty clear that this is retaliation against Baker, but it goes deeper than that.

They want you to see them retaliating against Baker.

They want you to understand that ruining the narrative has consequences and they are willing to use whatever dirty trick they have at their disposal to make you understand that if you go against them, you're not safe. Your innocence will not protect you. You are guilty of embarrassing the authoritarians and that means repercussions.

It's unclear how they'll be able to punish Baker but the main way seems to be embarrassment. They'll put him in an orange prison jumpsuit and cart him around in handcuffs for cameras. Those photos will then be spread around the internet allowing the left to use it to discredit Baker's reporting. How can he be believed? He's a criminal!

But outside of that, it's unclear how much they can actually do to him, but again, the point is to demonstrate that the federal government is more than willing to come down on you for defying them with your speech. If you're watching this happen to Baker, you'd be a little less adamant to voice your opinion or look to deeply into the narratives.

But if the government can't get to you, they'll send goons.

Last week I wrote on America's problem with domestic terrorism and its allowance by Democrats. In it, I discussed a comedy venue in Seattle that canceled the shows of a handful of comedians because the jokes they tell didn't align with the values of the "community."

(READ: America Has a State-Approved Domestic Terrorism Problem)

Reading the letter the venue wrote, it looks more like a hostage reading off a terrorist's pre-written script:

The letter isn't rude or condescending, or at least it doesn't come off that way. After reading it a few times, it comes off more as being written out of fear.

Notice the language being used in it. Emphasis mine.

"...we've received significant feedback expressing concerns about the alignment of these upcoming shows with the neighborhood's ethos."

"Given the feedback and to avoid any potential negative impact on both our club and the artists involved, as well as to maintain harmony within our community..."

"...we want to ensure it does not reflect on your talent and the quality of your work but is instead a reflection of our commitment to our community's values."

This reads like a letter that the writer, Jes Anderson, didn't want to write. It's incredibly complimentary to the comedians and it's clear that they do not want to close the door on them forever, but there's repeated language that reads like appeasement and assurances that they're on the same side of the community in question.

This venue is situated in the heart of an area that is plagued with Antifa and radical leftism. In fact, it's situated in the area that temporarily became CHAZ. As I wrote, if this club was in an area with leadership that valued free expression and believed in law and order, I get the impression this club would have told complainers to kick sand. However, they aren't, and their blue state overlords sit back and let domestic terrorists rule the roost.

For leftists and their leaders, jokes are the worst form of expression because comedy allows people to see reality through absurdity and humor. Comedy can make Goliath look like Danny DeVito real quick, and if there's one thing authoritarians hate, it's having the terror and division they want to propagate be laughed at.

It's hard to tell jokes when radical leftists could show up at your establishment, harass your customers, assault your employees, and vandalize your business, all at great cost and to the shrugs and excuses of Democrat leaders.

Again, you see the encouragement of not practicing free speech for fear of reprisal. The message sent is "Stay quiet and stay safe from us."

On Wednesday, Jeff Charles released an article detailing a survey that showed people are concerned about the future of free speech. I'm here to tell you that you don't need to look into the future. The problem is here and now.
