The Press and the Democrats are Fooling Each Other At This Point

During the Obama era, the Democrats and the corporate media seemed to be a well-oiled machine. They danced together with such precision that narratives were served up and consumed without question by a lot of people. If it wasn't for talk radio and the internet, Obama would have gotten away with a lot more than he did, but even so, he got away with a lot.

But now, the left hand doesn't seem to know what the other left hand is doing. Wires seem to be getting crossed constantly. Nowadays, the press often seems to be just as surprised about the decisions coming out of the White House as we are.

I was reading my colleague Joe Cunningham's article on Mike Johnson's response to Joe Biden's decision to not give Israel precision weapons. Why? Because the Biden administration doesn't want to make the youth mad by being seen as helping along Israel's "genocide" of Palestinians.

How did it come to that conclusion? Cunningham explains:

Joe Biden is once again wrong on the issue - which, as Robert Gates would tell us, is par for the course when it comes to Biden and foreign policy. The fact that he is doing so because of political considerations, rather than any practical ones, is even more absurd. The man believes he is going to rescue the young vote for his re-election campaign by deferring on aiding Israel, as though there aren't a host of other reasons to dislike him. The fact is, he is never going to win young voters on this issue, because no matter what he does, he is seen as complicit in Israel's "genocide."

But that is among young voters who care about this. Recent polling suggests college campuses are filled with students who aren't aligned with what the protestors are doing, just as American cities are filled with people who aren't in the Muslim communities in Michigan that voted against him in the state's primary.

Most of the Gen-Z vote that Biden is trying to grab is actually not in support of the anti-Israel camps that have popped up around college campuses all over the nation. Not only that, but we've seen video evidence that the radicals in the camps are just as willing to chant "FJB" alongside conservative students.

Yet, the default position of the Democrat Party now seems to be "court the radicals." As such, the media does what it can to play the radicals up, and the Democrats, in turn, sympathize with the media-deified radicals making them look like they're on the side of the good guys to anyone not paying too close attention, which is a lot of people.

It worked during Black Lives Matter, after all, why not with anti-Israel students?

The issue is that the anti-Israel protests were the left scraping the bottom of the barrel for a galvanizing movement since they couldn't return to the BLM trough they've been drinking from for the past two elections. With everything else having failed to truly get the public going like another pandemic or a "trans-Floyd," the war in Gaza is what they were left with.

So the media focused on that, and the money poured in from interest groups and shady foreign billionaires, chants were written, and the cameras started rolling. Students began angrily shouting slogans while they waved Palestinian flags. Social media was ablaze with updates from within the camps.

And the Democrats seem to be doing exactly what they should be doing in this situation, as seen by what Joe Biden is mumbling during interviews.

The issue is that outside the dynamic shots that were given to us at Columbia, the protests aren't actually that impressive. In fact, the Daily Beast of all people reported what the situation looks like when the media's cameras aren't working to make the protests look bigger than they actually are. Harvard's protest, for instance, is fizzling out to the sound of mocking and laughter.

But does the White House know that?

It appears that the Democrats are torn on the subject but there are a number of politicians on the left throwing their approval and encouragement behind the protesters. The Squad is definitely one of them. The Biden administration seems to be another.

The Democrats seem to be believing the media's hype. The media seems to keep hyping it up because now the Democrats are relying on the hype.

It's a vicious and insanely hilarious cycle that the left can't now break itself out of.

Perhaps the well-oiled machine is breaking down now thanks to wear, tear, and overuse. It doesn't help that it's slowly becoming irrelevant and unwanted.

But regardless, it seems to be helping Democrats shoot themselves in the foot, so have at it.
