Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) seems intent on seeing how deeply she can sink into the slime that is American politics nowadays. Only hours after it was revealed that a Capitol police officer was killed by a man who drove his vehicle through a barrier near the United States Capitol building, Omar pounced on the opportunity to exploit his death for politics.

RedState’s Nick Arama reported:

As we reported earlier, a suspect rammed a car into a barrier in front of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. just after 1:00 p.m. and hit two Capitol Police officers and hit the north barricade along Constitution Avenue on the Senate side of the building.

The suspect then allegedly got out of the car wielding something between a knife and a machete, after which the suspect lunged at the police officers, and was shot and killed by the Capitol Police.

One of the two officers was injured and the other has unfortunately died at the hospital, according to Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman.

In response to the news of the officer’s death, Omar tweeted: “Heartbroken to learn another CP was killed while protecting the Capitol. My thoughts and prayers go out to the officer’s family and the entire Capitol Police force. The death toll would have been worse if the assailant had an AR-15 instead of a knife.”

Not surprisingly, other Twitter users castigated the insensitive lawmaker, slamming her for politicizing the incident mere hours after his death was announced. Here are some of the tweets:

As with other events of this nature, many on both the left and the right speculated as to the identity of the person driving the vehicle. The activist media was salivating over the thought that the suspect might have been a Trump supporter so they could scream “Orange Man Bad.”

Much to their likely disappointment, the suspect turned out to be a black member of the Nation of Islam.

Omar was not the only depraved leftist who tried to politicize the murder. MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan tweeted: “Imagine if today’s Capitol attacker had gotten out of his car not with a knife but with an AR-15. Imagine the police death toll. Just imagine.”

It appears that since the so-called progressive crowd was denied their “Orange Man Bad” narrative, they figure that maybe they could squeeze something out of the incident by using it to promote gun control. As Allie Beth Stuckey said in her tweet: They just can’t help themselves, can they?
