Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. can’t win for losing when it comes to getting Secret Service protection. Despite facing a obvious threats from known entities, the White House continues to turn him down when he requests assistance from Secret Service agents, despite the fact that other presidential candidates have enjoyed this type of protection.

Judicial Watch, a prominent legal watchdog organization, obtained several pages of records shedding light on the constant denials.

Judicial Watch announced today that it received an 11 pages of Secret Service records detailing the denial of protection to presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., despite having received numerous threats from “known subjects.”

Judicial Watch received the document from the Secret Service in response to a July 28, 2023, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for records and communications of:

a) Director Kimberly A. Cheatle

b) Deputy Director Ronald L. Rowe, Jr.

c) Chief Operating Officer Cynthia Sjoberg Radway

d) Assistant Director, Office of Protective Operations, Michael Plati

The documents note RFK Jr’s family history with assassinations and also highlight his controversial stances on issues like vaccines and others as indications that he might be at risk for being targeted by violent actors.

The paperwork also highlights various incidents in which the candidate could have faced threats. These were classified as “Behaviors of Interest” and chronicled incidents that included nonsensical letters, packages coming from known subjects, and threatening emails and message promising to “bury” Kennedy or make him “suffer.”

In July, Kennedy took to X to explain how the Biden administration continued to refuse Secret Service protection for him.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is getting the cold shoulder from his fellow Democrats when it comes to his own safety as he’s been denied secret service (USSS) protection by the Biden administration despite having requested it months ago.

According to a tweet by RFK Jr., he’d put in the request for USSS protection 88 days ago with no response from the Bidens. As he notes, the typical answer to this request comes in just a couple weeks, but after a massively delayed response, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said he determined Kennedy doesn’t need the protection.

After an incident that involved a man impersonating a police officer on the campaign trail, Kennedy once again requested Secret Service protection, but was denied.

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is again calling for a U.S. Secret Service protective detail to be assigned to him following an incident at a campaign event last week involving an armed man who now stands accused of impersonating a police officer.

Since then, Kennedy's campaign has highlighted his family's history of assassination and the recent security scare as examples of the increased threat environment he faces amid his campaign to defeat President Joe Biden.

The email records reveal an exchange in which agents discussed the reasoning behind denying the candidate. It indicated that Secret Service protection was typically granted only one year prior to the general election, with exceptions only made in extraordinary cases based on threat assessment and other factors.

The constant denials prompted Judicial Watch to file a Freedom of Information request to get to the bottom of why the White House continues to reject Kennedy’s requests. The revelations offers more insight into how the agency decides who gets protection and who doesn’t. However, in RFK Jr.’s case, there could be more than meets the eye.
