Kamala Harris Visits Parkland to Exploit Deaths of School Shooting Victims to Push Gun Control

Vice President Kamala Harris is paying a visit to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the site of one of the nation’s most brutal and tragic school shootings. The purpose of her visit is to push for red flag laws and other restrictions ostensibly aimed at curbing gun violence in America.

Her visit underscores a significant moment in the Biden administration’s efforts to impose more restrictions on firearms. She is expected to tout the White House’s supposed efforts against gun homicides while trying to persuade the public to allow more laws restricting their right to keep and bear arms.

Harris was meeting with families of the victims and is walking the halls at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, where the murders happened in a building that is planned to be demolished later this year.

As part of her visit, Harris will call for 29 of the 50 states that have no "red flag" laws laws to pass them and encourage 15 more states that have the laws to start using available federal funds to implement them, according to a White House official.

The laws allow courts to issue "extreme risk protection orders" removing firearms from individuals considered at risk of harming themselves or others.

Florida’s Democrats welcomed Harris’ visit and took a shot at the state’s Republicans, who have passed laws protecting gun rights.

The Florida Democratic Party reported that the visit will mark more than 10 combined trips President Joe Biden and Harris have made to the state since they assumed office.

“This visit demonstrates their commitment to Florida as a battleground in 2024 and highlights the action Democrats are taking to address gun violence,” the party said in a statement.

“While Florida Republicans used this legislation session attempting to roll back Parkland-era gun reform, the Biden-Harris administration has shown leadership on gun violence prevention since day one, passing the first major bipartisan gun safety legislation in 30 years and creating the first Office of Gun Violence Prevention together with our own Congressman Maxwell Frost,” the party added.

Nevertheless, Harris’ focus on red flag laws and other restrictions is another red herring aimed at convincing the public that the government is doing something about gun violence when, in reality, the laws they are pushing would do almost nothing to save lives.

Red flag laws, in particular, have been show to be a failure on numerous occasions. Most recently, an independent commission inadvertently found that passing additional restrictions would not have stopped the mass shooter in Maine who murdered 18 people in October 2023. Indeed, the shooter had exhibited multiple warning signs in the time leading up to the shooting.

The same is also true for the woman who attempted to carry out a mass shooting at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.

The reality is that Harris and her ilk rarely miss an opportunity to stand on the graves of mass shooting victims to emotionally manipulate the public into allowing the government to infringe on their Second Amendment rights. In this case, the vice president knows precisely what she is doing by pushing this agenda on the site of one of the worst school shootings to take place in America. Unfortunately, the anti-gunner crowd is more concerned about disarming lawful people than they are with saving lives.
