Investigative Journalist Ben Swann has a reputation for diving into stories that the legacy media either dismisses as conspiracy theory or alt-right, or ignores entirely. In his 20-plus years of journalism, he has made his bones on spotlighting an angle to the story that is glossed over or forgotten, as he did in his coverage of the Mexican drug war. Swann has won two Emmy Awards and was a two-time recipient of the Edward R. Murrow Award.

Since 2018, after Swann was removed from his anchor spot with Atlanta's WGCL-CBS46, Swann has worked toward building his own independent media platform where those unseen or ignored stories, no matter what their purported angle, could get attention, and where content creators and independent journalists who do not fit within the boundaries of corporate media could gain an audience.

That platform is Truth in Media (TiM). TiM's tagline, "Truthful storytelling when it matters most," is the watchword that allows Swann and others to investigate and revisit subjects where the legacy media refuses to tread. In an interview with RedState, Swann had much to say about the role of journalism today, and why a platform like TiM and its hub site Sovren Media are essential for the dissemination of truth and information that otherwise might remain hidden, and where free-speech storytellers can find a place to tell their stories without fear of deplatforming or censorship.

"What we're really trying to do is get back to really investigative journalism," Swann said.

"I think that's one thing that's terribly missing, and again, not a criticism of anyone who's out there who's trying to do good work, but the reality is whether we're talking about the network level or we're talking about the independent level, there is very little investigative journalism that still exists at all out there anymore. And I would say that you probably find more on the internet, in terms of people who are putting stuff up on TikTok or Instagram, who are trying to do work on their own. You probably see more of it there than you do on cable news. I I feel like cable became the graveyard for investigative journalism."

Thanks to blockchain technology, Swann was able to create a place where investigative journalists like Lara Logan could tell "The Rest of the Story" about January 6 or where a heartwarming and powerful tale about a family of musicians who use their craft fighting for our freedoms could gain an audience.

Swann delved deeper into the concept of "packaging," and how for probably two decades, audiences have gotten used to digesting their news in a certain way. Yet, even if truthful or factual content is presented, if it doesn't fit into that package, it is often rejected for the familiar and for confirmation of one's own closely held worldview.

One of the areas where TiM is challenging worldview is unfolding stories about the unholy alliance between law enforcement and government, and the embedding of Deep State actors in the media who merely support and parrot the selected talking points about crimes like the kidnapping plot of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and the Nashville shooter.

Thanks to the blockchain technology which supports TiM's content and infrastructure, Swann has finally achieved the goal of creating a network truly free from censorship. Elon Musk's X touts this, but Swann is actually able to deliver it via his Sovren Media Network. The hub is a launch pad for independent media, and especially caters to those who have been a victim of censorship and the Big Tech purges that have occurred over the past few years. For new or established creators who do not have the follower count that allows them to take advantage of the X and Instagram subscriber models, Sovren Media offers not only a platform, but an opportunity to crowdfund in order to produce material that elevates their voice and angle. Even better, the content they produce is free from censorship and deletion, a promise that X, Instagram, and other social media outlets cannot make.

TiM is currently airing "The Rest of the Story," and has plans to do deep dives into child trafficking, and Ukraine.

A few things we're doing to it that is specifically about what's going on in Ukraine and kind of telling the hidden story about Ukraine and about Zelenskyy himself, who he is, and his background. So, we'll be sharing that very soon as well.

The more we've gotten into this series, the more it becomes clear Ukraine is the center of the world in so many ways. And I mean that in the political world and the way that so many politicians in the United States are connected to it in the way that the State Department, the way that the U.S. military, the way that even the medical and bio lab community is connected to it is frankly stunning when you really get into it.

TiM also has planned coverage ahead of the 2024 Election that will not only be eye-opening, but narrative shattering.

We have a couple of projects we're working on. I don't wanna say too much about them, but I think they could be extremely interesting to the public and certainly in, kind of showing, the truth behind what this election cycle will look like. It's the most unusual, and we always say this is the most important election. Whether it's the most important or not, let's set that aside. This is the most unusual election, I think, that will ever have happened in U.S. history. I mean, it's really incredible when you consider the fact that you have a former president who's running again. That alone becomes incredibly rare. While also on trial in multiple states for supposedly trying to overthrow the outcome of the last election, and then you have him on trial for business items in New York, and then you have a third-party candidate in Bobby Kennedy, Jr., who's running neither as a Republican or Democrat. It's bonkers.

In a time when distrust of the legacy media is at an all-time high, the entrance of Truth in Media and its independent voices may be what is needed to get the Fourth Estate out of foreclosure and turn the tide toward clarity and truth in this nation, especially before the November 2024 election.

The most dangerous thing in the world is anyone who interrupts the two-party system, because bigger than any candidate, bigger than Trump, bigger than Biden, bigger than any candidate, is the permanent Washington system.
