Facebook/Meta Sends DEI to DIE as a Former Executive Lacking in Moral Fiber Bites the Hand That Feeds Her

Among the problems of "go woke, go broke," being experienced by Disney, "Tranheuser Busch" and Target, another issue with corporations who embrace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and make it their main focus for recruiting and hiring, is that any moral or ethical safeguards that dictate proper business practices gets thrown out the window. Whether these geniuses want to admit it or not, Judeo-Christian principles are what undergird a code of ethics.

But if you ignore these principles, or deem people who acknowledge and adhere to them anathema to your organization, and instead choose the intersectionality wunderkind, then you pretty much deserve what you get. Joining the ranks, Facebook/Meta is being hoisted with their own petard.

Barbara Furlow-Smiles was the "global diversity executive" with Facebook from 2017-2021. Furlow-Smiles did this for four years and managed to pocket $1 million a year on top of her generous salary. How did she do that, you might ask? Furlow-Smiles linked payment apps to company-issued Facebook credit cards, then made real payments to fake vendors, among other schemes, and took in kickbacks from these schemes.

Go woke, go even more broke, because you got defrauded

U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan said of Furlow-Smiles:

This defendant abused a position of a trust as a global diversity executive for Facebook to defraud the company of millions of dollars, ignoring the insidious consequences of undermining the importance of her DEI mission. Motivated by greed, she used her time to orchestrate an elaborate criminal scheme in which fraudulent vendors paid her kickbacks in cash. She even involved relatives, friends, and other associates in her crimes, all to fund a lavish lifestyle through fraud rather than hard and honest work.

Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, Keri Farley, said:

Furlow-Smiles used lies and deceit to defraud both vendors and Facebook employees. The FBI works hard to make sure greed like this doesn’t pay off and those who commit fraud are held accountable.

Yeah, I wouldn't be so emphatic about that Georgia FBI office, since your national brothers are still trying to run cover for the Biden crime family. Like the Bidens, Furlow-Smiles got everybody in on the act: including her husband Ernest Smiles, friends, relatives, former interns from a previous job, nannies and babysitters, her hair stylist, and her university tutor.

Like all of the companies mentioned, Facebook/Meta doesn't have a diversity problem, it has a morality problem. Rather than deal with the significant egg on its face, Facebook/Meta and its fellow travelers over at Google are working overtime to scrub Barbara Furlow-Smiles and all the supposed good she did as a representative of DEI off the internet. Her formerly huge and thriving Instagram account and following no longer exist. Articles and podcasts where she spoke as a DEI representative have also become unavailable.

But, her children's book is still up at Amazon (for now). Yep, among being a fraudster, and a high priestess in the church of DEI, Furlow-Smiles, along with her complicit husband Ernest Smiles, wrote a children's book titled, "When Imani Smiles in France."

You cannot make this stuff up.

In total, Furlow-Smiles stole more than $4 million from Facebook based on fictitious charges and fraudulent invoices for which goods and services were never provided to the company. She used the money to live a luxury lifestyle in California and Georgia.

Sentencing for Barbara Furlow-Smiles, also known as “Barbara Furlow,” 38, of Atlanta, Georgia, is scheduled for March 19, 2024, before U.S. District Judge Steven D. Grimberg.

This was probably the biggest gem found scrubbing the bowels of the internet for more information on Furlow-Smiles, her very inflated profile, and her outrageous crimes. One of her last interviews in 2021 was for an organization called Her Agenda to hawk her new business that apparently had a celebrity presence... or so she claimed.

Barbara joined the Her Agenda INSIDERS to talk about her background as well as her new company, Smiles ShieldTM. Smiles ShieldTM is a family-owned and operated company that she started with her husband during the pandemic. Celebrities like Roland Martin, Kandi Buruss, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, Zena (Beyoncé’s Wardrobe Stylist), Chole & Halle, and more have worn their Smiles Shield.

This YouTube episode, ironically titled "Money Making Conversations," aired around 2018 and Ernest Smiles and Barbara Furlow-Smiles were the featured guests, promoting Smile Shield. This was also a year after she was hired at Facebook for DEI initiatives. Bet you dollars to donuts that this product was birthed through that ill-gotten $4 million.

Comedy gold, but depending upon how fast the scrubbing elves work, it may not be up for much longer.
