San Francisco’s district attorney says his office will toss out or reduce thousands of marijuana criminal convictions dating back decades, which a 2016 ballot measure legalizing recreational use of the drug in California allows. Gascon announced Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, that his office will review nearly 5,000 felony cases for possible action and automatically seal 3,000 misdemeanor cases. (AP Photo/Eric Risberg, File)

It’s no secret that socialist billionaire George Soros is spending vast sums of money to influence District Attorney elections throughout the country in order to elect DA’s who will “transform” our criminal justice system into one in which everyday people attempting to go live a simple, productive life are targeted and criminals and moochers are coddled (such as Diana Becton, whose office we’ve written about here and here).

In this year’s Los Angeles District Attorney contest Soros is backing former San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon, who resigned and moved back to his hometown to challenge incumbent Democrat Jackie Lacey (whose husband was charged with assault with a firearm after defending his home from Black Lives Matter protesters).

Clearly, Gascon is the progressive socialist darling. His “Public Policy Committee” is comprised of people who want to dismantle the criminal justice system and defund the police, as evidenced by social media posts by a few of the committee members recently unearthed by Fox Los Angeles reporter Bill Melugin.

Gascon announced the formation of the committee back in January:

Today, George Gascón’s campaign for Los Angeles District Attorney is proud to announce it’s all-star policy committee. In addition to the individuals below, Team Gascón is grateful to the treasure trove of brilliant individuals who continue to contribute their time, ideas, and passion to our campaign to reform and modernize the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. In the days and weeks ahead the campaign will unveil a host of policy reports detailing George Gascón’s proposals on topics ranging from law enforcement accountability, juvenile justice, to behavioral health.

Given their social media posts, Blair’s and Blacknell’s biographies are unsurprising:

Tiffiny Townend Blacknell is a lifelong resident of Los Angeles County. After graduating from Inglewood High School in 1994, she earned a BA in Philosophy from California State University Dominguez Hills and then enrolled in the University of Southern California Law School. Tiffiny received her JD from USC Law in 2002 and immediately began working as a Deputy Public Defender in Los Angeles.

Tiffiny has worked as a Deputy Public Defender for almost 17 years. She has handled misdemeanor cases, juvenile adjudications as well as complex serious felonies.

Here’s Alisa Blair’s bio:

Alisa Blair is a native Angelino and has been an attorney with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office since 2003. During that time Ms. Blair has been lead trial counsel in over 50 jury trials for charges ranging from resisting arrest to first degree murder, as well as a supervisor in the office’s juvenile division.

Alisa Blair attended the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in Sociology with an emphasis in Race and Ethnic relations and a minor in African American Studies. Alisa went on to attend the University of Southern California school of law where she earned her Juris Doctorate. Alisa Blair was awarded the Miller-Johnson Equal Justice Award by the law school. Ms. Blair co-authored a published chapter entitled, Race and Ethnicity as a Compound Risk Factor in Police Interrogation of Youth, and is the author of, A Guide to Cash Bail, published in the Chaos + Comrades digital magazine.

Let’s look at their disturbing social media posts in more detail since Melugin’s tweet doesn’t show them clearly. In this June 5 tweet, in the midst of ongoing violent riots and looting, committee member Tiffany Townend Blacknell said, “Look at these barbarians! #lapd is an occupying army! #DefundPolice”

Not only does Ms. Black well want to defund the police; she wants to “reimagine America” without prisons.

On August 2, 2019 she tweeted:

“Prison is obsolete. We need to reimagine America without it. Angela Davis said it years ago. Prisons disappear problems they don’t solve them. We’ve been warehousing our people for a generation it’s time to free America. #freeamerica #cut50 #endmassincarceration”

Alisa Blair, another committee member, tweeted on May 29, “Burn that shit down. We must destroy in order to rebuild. #GeorgeFloydProtests #BlackLivesMatter #Rebellion #Abolition #GeorgeFloyd”

In addition to reporting at Fox Los Angeles, Melugin shared the story on Tucker Carlson Tonight:

After being outed, one committee member made her profile private and the other doubled down on her comments.

Jackie Lacey might not be the District Attorney law-and-order conservatives in Los Angeles might want, but if George Gascon wins the city will complete its devolution into being the next San Francisco.
