The unfortunately named Torch Tower in Dubai is currently engulfed in flame. Details about evacuation are still sketchy.

Shocked onlookers have recorded the blaze at The Torch Tower, one of the world’s tallest residential building with 86 floors, in the United Arab Emirates holiday hotspot.

The cause of the fire and the current state of evacuation is not yet known.

The Dubai Media Office tweeted that Dubai Civil Defence teams were trying to control the fire in one of the towers in the Marina district and firefighters from four fire stations were helping to tackle the blaze.

A fire swept through the same building in February 2015 but was quickly brought under control. There were no fatalities in that blaze and seven people were treated smoke inhalation.

Dubai’s glittering skyline has seen a number of similar fires in recent years.
