At the very beginning of our nation’s history, English philosopher John Locke was a hugely inspiring guy. His ideas were key in the development of the essential rights inherent in the new nation of America. One of his great pieces, his Second Treatise Civil Government, he mentioned that “everyman has a property in his person; this nobody has a right to but himself. The labor of his body and the work of his hand, we may say, are properly his.” These words were among the many of his that inspired the American Revolution.

Here we are, 326 years after he wrote that idea, and 239 years after the Declaration of Independence, and Locke’s inspiring ideas mean absolutely nothing.

In northern Texas, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is beginning to grab land that has been held by families for generations.

According to KAUZ, many families who own property along the Red River in northern Texas are being told their property really isn’t theirs.

One man, Ken Aderholt, who owns 1250 acres along the Texas border, said that his land has been in his family since 1941. But the BLM is saying otherwise:

“The BLM is saying we should have never had a deed to it. That Texas should have never produced that deed.”

Aderholt told KAUZ that he has plans to pass his land onto his children, but the government is seriously threatening those plans.

Private land overlooking the secret base at Area 51 has officially been taken from the owners and transferred to the United States Air Force.

Last month, the U.S. Air Force condemned the Groom Mine property when the family who owns it rejected a government buyout they felt was unjust.

The I-Team broke the story of the family’s fight with the government.

The Sheahan family, which until now owned the mine, knew they faced an uphill fight. They also expected the government would probably take the land through eminent domain even though the Sheahan’s owned it since Abe Lincoln was in the White House.

Now — literally with the stroke of a pen — a federal judge has turned the land over to the U.S. Air Force. The only part of the fight left for the Sheahan family now is compensation and what will happen to the equipment, buildings, even human remains, still at the site.

This is being done through an oversized executive branch. It is being done non-legislatively. There is no semblance of a democratic process behind this, but the government doesn’t care if you think it’s being done fairly. We’ve allowed the government to gain too much power over decades, but this administration has taken that power and used it in new and frankly frightening ways.

You do not have the right to your own property, the results of your hard work and your family’s hard work. What’s yours is theirs, and what’s theirs is most assuredly not yours. This is Barack Obama’s America, where the Left which has for so long condemned the “imperial” behavior of the United States, has turned the government into an all-powerful entity that can give and take whatever it wants, whenever it wants, and no reason is necessary. It’s simply their will which shall be done.
