During the official vote on the Senate GOP’s “skinny repeal” bill, it appears as though Senate leadership has already lost the fight before it even begins.
John McCain voted no on the bill, joining Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins – other liberal Republicans who had previously signaled they would not support any sort of repeal of the Affordable Care Act. The final vote was 49-51.
It should be painfully obvious by now that this isn’t conservative Senators scuttling a long sought after Republican goal. It’s the modera-… hell, who are we kidding? It’s the liberal Republican Senators who have decided that they are just fine with government intrusion into the health insurance market.
Senate Leadership appears to be trying to figure out what in the hell to do now. It’s put up failure after failure, and it has no one to blame but the liberal members of the Republican caucus.
