Barack Obama made it a point to let America know that he was not getting involved in the Russia investigation. He said he was not talking to FBI leadership or really doing any sort of micromanagement on the issue at all.

But, those missing FBI texts appear to say differently.

Newly revealed text messages between FBI paramours Peter Strzok and Lisa Page include an exchange about preparing talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to give to President Obama, who wanted “to know everything we’re doing.”

The message, from Page to Strzok, was among thousands of texts between the lovers reviewed by Fox News. The pair both worked at one point for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Page wrote to Strzok on Sept. 2, 2016, about prepping Comey because “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.” According to a newly released Senate report, this text raises questions about Obama’s personal involvement in the Clinton email investigation.

Now, a lot of folks will wave this off as “These agents essentially work for the President, so of course, he’d check in.” Except, as I mentioned, Obama very clearly stated he was being very hands-off with the investigation. It’s the exact type of promise you’d want to make to appear like you weren’t trying to tip the scales.

…But, it appears he was way more interested in the things that were going on in the investigation. Our lovestruck agents have an already-proven dislike for Trump, so it’s not hard to imagine they’d be more than happy to oblige Obama’s request for more information.

There is, of course, the outside possibility that someone from Obama’s inner circle was asking for the information in Obama’s name. That could explain a lot of the leaks we saw from the investigation, as Obama – who sought a “scandal-free” presidency – would not want those leaks traced back to him.

What it comes down to – what it always comes down to – is this: What did Barack Obama know and when did he know it? Because, based on these texts, he knew more than he let on and he knew it sooner than we thought he did.
