President Donald Trump has done what he promised, sending in federal law enforcement agencies to Memphis, Tennessee, in an effort to crack down on crime similar to what he was able to do in Washington, D.C., recently.

Speaking from the Oval Office, President Trump announced that he was signing a Presidential Memorandum to help Republican Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee get a handle on crime in this major city in his state.

"Today, at the request of @GovBillLee of Tennessee... I'm signing a Presidential Memorandum to establish the Memphis Safe Task Force — and it's very important because of the crime that's going on," Trump said. "Not only in Memphis, but in many cities. And we are going to take care of all of them. This task force will be a replica of our extraordinarily successful efforts here [in D.C.]."

"The effort will include the National Guard, as well as the FBI, ATF, DEA, ICE, Homeland Security Investigations, and the U.S. Marshals," Trump added. "We are going to have DOJ led by U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee [Joseph C. Murray]."

"This team will deploy the full powers of federal law enforcement agencies... to restore public safety and get dangerous career criminals off our streets," Trump continued. "In 2024, Memphis had the highest violent crime rate, the highest property crime rate, and the third highest murder rate of any city in the nation."

In a post later on the Official White House Rapid Response account, the White House shared some disturbing stats about the Memphis crime rate.

It read:

FACT: In 2024, Memphis had the highest violent crime rate, highest property crime rate, and the third-highest murder rate in the U.S.

FACT: Violent crime in Memphis increased in 2024 — 344% higher than the national average.

FACT: In 2024, Memphis's murder rate was four times higher than Mexico City's, 27 times higher than Havana's, and 37 times higher than London's.

At one point, Governor Lee, who was in the White House too, spoke about his struggle to rid the blue city in his red state of crime.

"I have been in office for seven years," Lee said. "I'm tired of crime holding the great city of Memphis back."

During his appearance on "Fox and Friends" on Friday, Trump shared the news that the next blue city in line for a law enforcement surge was Memphis.

"Look at what we did in D.C.," Trump said. "We took D.C., probably the single-worst place in the country in terms of crime. There's no crime. It's a crime-free area."

"D.C. is now a great, safe…now we're fixing it up physically too," he added, pointing out that they will even be fixing the potholes. "We're going to make it beautiful."

"Almost every city that's in trouble is run by Democrats," Trump continued. "We're going to straighten out the crime in these cities. So, we're going to Memphis. I'm going to announce that now…Memphis is deeply troubled... We're going to fix that just like we did in Washington."

Good for President Trump. He's making good on those campaign promises to make America safe again.
