Today is Women’s Equality Day.

On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment went into effect which gave women the right to vote. As someone who is certainly anti-sexism, I cheer on this historical marker. Had I been alive during that time, there is no doubt in my mind that I would have been a suffragette, marching with other women and demanding my right to have my voice heard at the voting booth.

As you’ve noticed, though, something has changed since that day 97 years ago. Namely, first wave feminism turned into second and third wave feminism, and we’re left with a mangled and morphed version of what original feminism entailed.

Right to vote? Excellent. Treated fairly in the work place, and given the same opportunities as men? Bravo. Who, except some horrible, misogynistic jerk, would be against these things?

The answer is no one.

Third-wave, victim-oriented, “the Patriarchy is ruining my life and abortion is my right!” feminists are a far cry from their great-great grandmothers who marched long ago. Their ideology is toxic. They despise men. They poison conversations about gender in their quest for faux equality. They do more harm than good. These women wear p***y hats and promote free bleeding. I will not join in.

One of their favorite talkings points is the gender wage gap.

Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton repeated the often-used “women are paid 77 cents for every $1.00 a man earns” phrase to strike fear into the hearts of her Lena Dunham clones nationwide. How horrible! Women are paid less because they have vaginas. Such a thing would be pure sexism.

Except. . . gender based wage injustice doesn’t exist. It isn’t an actual thing. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 made it illegal. Don’t expect these feminists to be honest about it, though. The grievance business just feels so good.

In March, Prager U put out a video called “There Is No Gender Wage Gap” in which the brilliant Christina Hoff Sommers completely obliterates the liberal talking point.


You really should watch the entire 5 1/2 minute video for yourself so you can be armed with the knowledge to shoot down this argument when you encounter it. Here are just a few of her points.

If women were actually paid 77 cents on every dollar a man makes, why don’t businesses hire only women? “Wages are the biggest expense for most businesses, so hiring only women would reduce costs by nearly a quarter.”

Wage gap calculations “don’t take into account occupation, position, education, or hours worked per week.”

“The small wage gap that does exist has nothing to do with paying women less, let alone with sexism; it has to do with differences in individual career choices that men and women make.”

“But why is there any gap at all? No one knows for sure, as both the AAUW and the Labor Department concede. There are so many variables that drive wages that no single study can cover them all. Few wage gap studies control for variables such as dangerous work environment; men are vastly overrepresented, for example, on oil rigs. And here’s another variable: men are more willing and able to work long hours without advance notice.”

“With more realistic categories and definitions, whatever wage gap remains would certainly narrow to point of vanishing. So it seems that business leaders aren’t bad at math simply because they don’t only hire women. Those who claim that for the same work women earn 77 cents on the dollar compared to men, on the other hand, are not merely bad at math –but at telling the truth.”

Ahh. What a breath of logical fresh air. However, feminists – especially on this most hallowed of days – will tell you the opposite is true. Of course, they don’t point to facts, only feelings. Typical.

You will undoubtedly hear about this gender-based wage gap time and time again as if it’s something caused by the systemic oppression of American women. But it doesn’t exist as explained by feminists. Women aren’t paid less because they are biologically female. The Left would just love for gender to be the reason for wins and losses in life, but facts don’t support their tired claims.

CHOICE – not sexism – is the reason that earnings look different for men and women. For a group lifting choice up as a banner (especially when it comes to abortion), feminists are quick to cover it up when it explains why their paychecks look different.
