Our Dumb National Suicide Pact

Two stories this week have served to neatly indicate how we are absolutely determined to destroy ourselves as a country. The first, of course, is the absurd unraveling of the University of Missouri at the hands of some transparent grievance mongering charlatans. One of the alleged grievances – indeed, the central grievance repeated without skepticism by our dumb media –  was that someone allegedly drew a swastika in human feces on a campus dorm wall.

Immediately, everyone possessed of a brain expressed healthy skepticism of such a story. Why would a neo-nazi draw a swastika in feces – wouldn’t that be disrespectful to the swastika? Additionally, wouldn’t that be the least pleasant way to draw a swastika that would also be exceedingly easy to remove? The Federalist dared to actually investigate whether there was any proof for this alleged incident and not surprisingly discovered that it was almost definitely a giant hoax.

In the final analysis of course, none of that will matter. The poop swastika which probably never occurred will be repeated uncritically as ironclad evidence that racism is endemic on Missouri’s campus.

MEANWHILE, across the country on the campus of UC Merced, an actual act of violence occurred about which there is no factual controversy – a student stabbed four of his fellow classmates and was himself killed by authorities who were attempting to subdue him. Several days later, it’s still a HUGE MYSTERY what might have POSSIBLY MOTIVATED this action:

The California college student who stabbed four people last week was carrying an image of the black flag of ISIS according to a report Tuesday, as well as a handwritten manifesto with instructions to behead a student and multiple reminders to pray to Allah, yet authorities continued to insist Faisal Mohammad’s motives had nothing to do with radical Islam.

I don’t even know where to begin. If we have to accept facially implausible claims of racism like the Missouri poopstika, can we at least accept that when a person is carrying an ISIS flag around, along with a radical islamic manifesto that talks about beheadings and then ends up stabbing four people, that he did it for the reasons he actually stated? Nope. Apparently not. All we can say is that it “raises questions” and then answer those questions with a definite “no.”
