On Today’s Episode of ‘Joe Being Joe,’ Biden Adds a Few Zeroes to America's Virus Death Toll

To paraphrase Ronald Reagan’s “There you go again” admonition to Jimmy Carter during a 1980 presidential debate, there Joe went again, with yet another laugh-out-loud gaffe.

Biden emerged from his basement on Thursday for a campaign trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, ostensibly to unveil his healthcare proposals, when he added a few zeroes to the Wuhan virus U.S. death count.

“People don’t have a job, people don’t know where to go, they don’t know what to do,” the former vice president said in Lancaster on Thursday, Fox News reported. “Now we have over 120 million dead from COVID.”

Reality: According to Johns Hopkins University, the death count from the virus now stands at approximately 124,400. But, hey — what’s a few extra zeroes among Trump Derangement Syndrome Democrats?

The Trump campaign was all over Joe’s latest slip up, suggesting his math problem was more than a gaffe. “He’s not playing with a full deck, folks”, read the tweet from the Trump War Room Twitter account.

As noted by Team Trump, Biden also had a problem with those pesky zeroes during the South Carolina Democrat presidential primary debate, when he claimed that 150 million Americans have been killed by guns since 2007, as we reported in February.

Biden was asked how he would stop gun violence, with the moderator noting that “Congress has not been able to pass a major gun legislation in a quarter of a century.” The former vice president said that he is “the only one who ever got it done nationally” before making the false claim that 150 million people have been killed by guns since 2007.

“One hundred fifty million people have been killed since 2007, when [Vermont Sen.] Bernie [Sanders] voted to exempt the gun manufacturers from liability,” Biden claimed. “More than all the wars, including Vietnam, from that point on. Carnage on our streets.”

Joe’s problem that time was probably due to a 2017 report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that 1.5 million — not 150 million — Americans have been killed by guns since 1968. Either way, so what? What’s a 39-year mistake to Joe and the Democrats?

As to be expected, President Trump was also quick to jump on Joe’s “mortifyingly stupid” mistake, correctly suggesting that the liberal media sock puppets would be all over him if he made a similar error.

Biden has been plagued by wildly wrong missteps throughout the 2020 campaign, with one such misstep occurring in May, as reported by Real Clear Politics, when he claimed that America has lost more than 85,000 jobs and millions of lives to the Wuhan virus pandemic.

This is not a moment for excuses or deflections or blame game. We’re — we’re in the middle of a pandemic that has cost us more than 85,000 jobs as of today. Lives of millions of people. Millions of people. Millions of jobs. You know, and we’re in a position where we just got new unemployment insurance, this morning, numbers, 36.5 million claims since this crisis began.

While Democrats and their liberal media cheerleaders are quick to dismiss Joe’s recurring blunders as simple gaffes, the rational among us are concerned as to whether his problem is far more serious.

As RedState’s Bonchie asked in April, “Is Joe Biden a Chronic Liar, or Just Senile?” While Biden has been beset by occasional gaffes  throughout his political career, his confusion, memory lapses, and missteps during the 2020 campaign have been far more troubling.

Despite the media’s attacks on Trump’s “mental capacity,” a 2020 Joe Biden in the White House who confuses his wife with his sister and doesn’t know what day it is half the time is a scary thought indeed.
