A Black Lives Matter mob descended on a Washington, D.C., Target store on Saturday, threatening to shut down the store’s business if it doesn’t stop calling the police on black people.

As they entered the store, the mob responded to a protest leader with a megaphone, repeatedly chanting:

“All black people, living around this neighborhood, living around in this neighborhood, because you prioritize money over people, so until you stop calling the police, we continue to shut your business down.”

So where were the police?

Journalist Drew Hernandez, who filmed the BLM threat to Target, wondered why there were no police on-site, as well. The host of the YouTube/Instagram “Lives Matter Show” wrote on Twitter:

“I really would like to know why DC Police allowed BLM to trespass into a DC Target to make threats tonight with customers still inside.”

Perhaps Hernandez need look no further for an answer than D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, who earlier this month was embroiled in a very public feud with President Trump over Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to Capital streets in an effort to quell the violence.

As we reported at the time, Bowser’s response was to boot the Guard from D.C.-area hotels.

Hernandez earlier filmed the mob as it entered the Target store.

Later in the evening, Hernandez, still probably wondering where the police were, filmed the mob as it walked through a D.C. neighborhood, chanting demands for a “cop free zone.”

The nation’s capital isn’t the only city under continuing threat from Black Lives Matter in the aftermath George Floyd’s death at the hands of an overzealous cop in Minneapolis.

As we reported last week, New York Chair of Black Lives Matter, Hawk Newsome told Fox News host Martha MacCallum that if the country doesn’t give Black Lives Matter what they want, the now-radical organization will “burn it down” and replace it.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the interview came when MacCallum said, “I watched you talking on a bunch of different interviews today and you said, ‘burn it down.’ You said it, ‘burn it down, it’s time.’ So that makes me think that you want to burn it down.”

Newsome clarified his remarks. “If this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it… I could be speaking figuratively. I could be speaking literally. It’s a matter of interpretation.”

MacCallum said, “You…have said that violence is sometimes necessary in these situations. What exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence?”

“Wow,” Newsome replied. “It’s interesting that you would pose that question like that because this country is built upon violence. What was the American Revolution, what’s our diplomacy across the globe? We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like. So for any American to accuse us of being violent is extremely hypocritical.”

“But you just said in that video…” MacCallum tried to interject.

Newsome immediately cut her off. “Why are you screaming and not allowing me to talk?”

She was not screaming.

And on it goes, as various mayors and city officials across America continue to bow to pressure from the BLM movement.

As we reported earlier this month, L.A. Mayor Gil Garcetti not only scrapped a planned pay increase for the LAPD, he announced he was seeking cuts in funding, as well.

“This is bigger than just a budget, but I want you to know we will not be increasing our police budget. How can we at this moment? We can’t walk to the promised land in a single day, nor a single week, but we better get ready.”

Make sense to you? Me, neither.

Who is the “we” that Garcetti referred to? Was Black Lives Matter included in that “we”? And what, exactly, is the image of Garcetti’s “promised land”? No cops? What about violence?

Was the mayor suggesting that his “promised land” would be a magical land without violence? Without Black Lives Matter threatening to shut down businesses that have the audacity to call the police when black people create disturbances or are caught shoplifting?

Where are the positive steps from BLM in response to liberal mayors and city officials caving in to their threats of violence?

If history has taught us anything, it is that efforts to appease those who seek to burn down and replace institutions they oppose with their visions of a “promised land” have not fared well at all.

I’d cite specific examples, but I’d probably be labeled “racist,” “white supremacist,” xenophobic,” or worse. Then again, to paraphrase Hillary, what difference would it make? Threateners gonna threaten.
