‘The Most Trusted Name in News’ Update: CNN Analyst Says Non-Maskers Should Be On Their Own ‘Terrorist’ List

FILE – This Jan. 17, 2001 file photo shows pedestrians entering CNN Center, the headquarters for CNN, in downtown Atlanta. The latest rough patch for CNN illustrates the two contradictions at the network’s heart. In a brutal time for the news business, CNN is one of the few media organizations thriving while its most visible part in the United States, prime-time on the flagship network, is hurting. The company has built its brand on nonpartisan reporting, while CNN’s audience tilts Democratic as much or more as Fox News Channel’s audience is Republican. (AP Photo/Ric Feld, File)

Don’t you just love CNN? Me, neither. But I do love writing about its nonsense. If there is a more target-rich environment in the news business — with MSNBC running a close second — I have yet to find it.

That said, it comes as no surprise that the dumpster fire of cable news pays on-air “talent” to say stupid crap, 24×7. Such was the case on Sunday morning when CNN “analyst” Juliette Kayyem and the ever-irascible Ana Cabrera decided — all by their itty-bitties — that people who refuse to wear masks should be put on a “terror suspect” list.

Let’s first set the stage before we continue with the “logic” of The Most Trusted Name in News™ and its ever-incisive political “analysts.” Here’s info on the flight our intrepid CNN sock puppets referenced.

Two passengers on a Delta Airlines flight from Detroit to Atlanta last week refused to wear masks, forcing the plane to return to the gate, a Delta spokesperson said.

Flight 1227 returned to the gate at Detroit Metro Airport on July 23 because the two “were non-compliant with crew instructions,” WXYZ reported.

The plane eventually left for Atlanta after a short delay. It’s unclear if the pair were banned from the airline for refusing to wear masks.

Delta’s COVID-era policies are among the most stringent among US-based airlines.

And Kayyem’s response to the “horrific” news?

@FAA should adopt a “no mask” list — much like “no fly” list for terror suspects — and permanently prohibit passengers like this from booking flights on any airlines (not just Delta). Call it “total jerks” list if you want, “complete asses” list if it makes you feel better.

Incidentally, Kayyem, who appears frequently on CNN as the network’s on-air national security analyst, was most recently Barack Obama’s Assistant Secretary for Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. Think about that. Need I say more?

The CNN-types among us who lauded Kayyem’s suggestions reacted exactly as we’d expect. This tweet sums it up perfectly.

Yeah, that’s enough of that.

I read the entire thread — twice. The vast majority of responses were negative, most which drew analogies to a common theme:

But, ah… liberal hypocrisy is the best. Can’t beat it:

On my first blog — seems like forever ago, given the goings-on in today’s toxic political environment — the subtitle read:

“The Hypocrisy of the Left Knows No Bounds.”

That statement is more true now than then. By a New York mile. (Incidentally, hypocrisy exists on both sides of the political aisle, but that’s a different topic for a different discussion.)

Nonetheless, liberals embrace hypocrisy like Michael Moore clutching a bag of Quarter Pounders with Cheese and a 12-pack of Coke.

Most recently, liberal hypocrisy was on full display in Austin, Texas, last night. That “social-distancing” thing? Everyone wearing masks?  Forget about it! This was a peaceful protest! A fight for “social justice” and against “systemic racism!” Here’s your pass, carry on as you were.

And of course Portland was Portland, again, last night — for the 66th consecutive day. The response of the hapless Democrat mayor and the equally-incompetent Democrat governor of Oregon?

No problem! Have at! And have a great evening!

Speaking of Portland, social-distancing was the last thing rioters had on their minds Friday night, as they participated in “peaceful activities” like burning stacks of Bibles and ripping barricades off store fronts. Some wore masks, many did not. The police? They stood idly by and watched.

And of course there was Democrat Rep. John Lewis’s funeral in Washington, D.C., on Friday. Check out the “social-distancing” in the church during the service. Should we create a list for these people — many of whom were not wearing masks — as well, Miss Kayyem?

On a personal note, a very good friend of mine and her husband contracted COVID in April. Unfortunately, her husband succumbed to the virus. Not only was she barred from visiting him in the hospital as he lay dying; she was prohibited from giving him a proper funeral.

Obviously, as was the case with “brink” and his dad, my friend’s husband of 40 years was apparently not important enough to cause people in “high places” to “bend the rules.”

Liberal hypocrisy. Can’t beat it. If you look up the definition of “hypocrisy” in the dictionary? You’ll find an image of CNN’s logo.

That last line was sarcasm, of course — but it couldn’t be more true.
