Is Michelle Obama About to 'Wiggle Into' the 2024 Presidential Race?

The notion that Barack and Michelle Obama have missed the overt reigns of power they enjoyed during the Obama presidency is widely held. Sure, some believe the former president has been pulling Joe Biden's strings from the beginning, but what if that isn't enough for the power-crazed couple?

In other words, do the Obamas miss their White House power enough to attempt to regain it — by Michelle running for president in November? Let's face it, stranger things have happened — and I'd bet a dollar that we're going to see things happen over the next 10 months that we've never before seen in presidential politics.

New York Post columnist Cindy Adams warned on Wednesday that Americans shouldn't be shocked if Mrs. Obama "sneaks her way into the 2024 race." She began her op-ed by blistering Biden.

Biden won’t debate. Can’t. Our codger-in-chief can’t even read the prewritten script in front of him fast enough to pronounce the words. So, forget him — which most of us already have.

Ouch.

Then this:

Coming back now — Obama. Not him. HER! We’ve heard this drumbeat for a while. Now it’s louder. Plans are to grab Michelle for the Democratic presidency choice. Making the music is Barack the orchestra leader.

How does Adams know there are "plans to grab Michelle?" I suspect she doesn't. Nevertheless, the columnist continued to speculate about Mrs. Obama's plans.

Obama’s quietly angling for Joe to go. He’s weaseled up to this for a few weeks. Mouths aren’t talking. But mouths are knowing.

Over one year ago, summer of 2022, she was in NYC meeting several big hedge CEOs, and said, “I am running, and I am asking for your support.”

Question: If Michelle is indeed running — why is she waiting so long to enter the race? Could it be part of a larger plan to dump Joe by, say, March? By "dump Joe," I mean to first offer him a face-saving way to quietly bow out.

One thing we do know — from Michelle Obama's own mouth. As my colleague Bob Hoge reported on Jan. 9, the former first lady said she is kept up at night by the notion of Donald Trump winning the November election.

I am terrified about what could possibly happen.

Please.

A bit hyperbolic, of course, but the Democrats have made it clear that fearmongering about Trump is the central strategy of Biden's miserable 2024 campaign because the least popular president in history — at this point in his presidency — is Joe's only hope.

As Adams sees it, "a Joe flop-out offers probability Michelle could wiggle in. Obama’s negotiating to make that happen." She added:

Pay attention to them gurgling and burbling about the election. About concern over Joe’s crappy polling, about bad Trump, about everything but Bad Bad LeRoy Brown. Obamas aren’t into casual statements.

Yeah, I'm not buying it.

The Bottom Line

The Obamas, worth at least $70 million, as estimated by Business Insider in February 2023, enjoy an extravagant lifestyle — while the former president at least attempts to play puppetmaster to addled 81-year-old Biden.

Do the Obamas crave the reigns of power enough to set aside much of the enjoyment afforded to multimillionaires for four or eight years?

I don't see it happening. What do you think?
