We are aware of the reports of attacks on US facilities in Iraq. The President has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team.

Keep in mind, these bases are HUGE with vast amounts of empty space. Iran’s targeting would need to be precise, and the warheads large enough, to do significant damage. They could very easily be falling in the desert. It’s a massive escalation regardless, but damage will matter.

IRGC-QF takes credit for cruise missile attack on al-Asad Airbase.
This attack was from Iranian territory.
The U.S. response will be on miltary targets in Iran.

As Michael Pregent notes, this was done from Iranian territory, not Iraq. So if that’s true, there was any question before, now Iran is fair game.
Apparently, the Ayatollah has decided he wants to become a parking lot or he thinks Trump is bluffing. He’s not bluffing.
