Biden Gets Endorsed by Beto, But It's The Job He Would Give Beto That Has People Talking

In the wake of Joe Biden winning the South Carolina primary, establishment Democrats are trying to coalesce around him to do what they can to head off Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) from getting the nomination.

A little pressure appears to have been applied to both Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) to have them drop out and endorse Biden before the Super Tuesday vote toady to maximize Biden’s numbers. Both Buttigieg and Klobuchar also attended a rally for Biden last night and formally endorsed him. Reportedly, both Biden and Barack Obama was involved in the arm twisting on Buttigieg. Biden mentioned he would be welcome in his administration, perhaps indicating that a job was involved in the deal.

If you didn’t already know that Biden wasn’t right for the presidency, the endorsements he got from some of the Obama crew would have told you. Former national security adviser Susan Rice and former CIA head John Brennan chimed in yesterday to endorse Biden.

The endorsements nobody wants, two people who really have no standing to comment on “decency.”

But Biden got another one at his rally last night from someone who is almost forgotten at this point – Beto O’Rourke – likely to try to help with the Texas vote that Biden critically needs today. And what was troubling about that was not so much the endorsement but what Joe Biden said in response.

From Fox News:

Biden, taking the microphone after O’Rourke spoke, then announced, “I want to make something clear — I’m gonna guarantee you, this is not the last you’re seeing of this guy — you’re gonna take care of the gun problem with me, you’re gonna be the one who leads this effort. I’m counting on you, I’m counting on you, we need you badly.”

O’Rourke has previously said he would like to seize all Americans’ AR-15 assault rifles, promising: “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” at a Democratic primary debate last year, shortly before his campaign collapsed.

“Yikes,” remarked Trump campaign spokesman Andrew Clark.

“Joe Biden promises Beto O’Rourke, who pushed for gun confiscation for legal gun owners, will ‘be the one who leads’ his gun control effort,” observed GOP Rapid Response Director Steve Guest. “2020 Democrats are unambiguous about their anti-Second Amendment agenda.”

Wrote NBC News’ Benjy Sarlin: “Biden hugging Beto going ‘You’re going to take care of the gun problem for me!’ is a thing you will see in a Republican ad someday.”

You got that right. Biden is supposed to be a moderate while embracing not only this extremist, but putting him in charge with his extremist policies? Um, Joe? That’s not going to go over well in Texas, or any place that cares about Constitutional rights. Just one more reason not to vote for Biden.

And let’s hear from Beto O’Rourke last June:

You were right then and that remark still applies now, perhaps even more so.
