Fauci: Trump Administration Response to Virus 'Has Been Impressive,' 'All Hands on Deck'

As we have reported, there’s been an effort on the part of some of the media to pitch division between President Donald Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, who has become a big face for the administration in fighting the virus.

When Fauci was cracking up at a joke Trump told, the media falsely tried to spin it as a hand to his face over an “angry” Trump.

Fauci made it clear on “Face the Nation” with Margaret Brennan when she tried to blast Trump for offering hope over possible cures for the virus and tried to suggest that he, Fauci, had a different position than Trump. But Fauci said there was no separation or difference between them, they just came at the same effort from two positions, he as the medical person, and Trump, as the president, offering hope to Americans. Fauci made it clear he was on to what the media was doing and he wasn’t buying into it.

Fauci appeared on Mark Levin’s show on Sunday night and made it clear that he thought that the response of the Trump administration in the fight had been “impressive.”

“We’ve never had a threat like this,” Fauci explained. “And the coordinated response has been, there are a number of adjectives to describe it. Impressive I think is one of them. I mean, we’re talking about all hands on deck, is that, I, as one of many people, on a team, I’m not the only person. Since the beginning, that we even recognized what this was, I have been devoting almost full time on this.” Fauci described it as almost round the clock for the whole group of folks on it, not just him, every single day. “So I can’t imagine that — under any circumstances — that anybody could be doing more,” Fauci said.

Excellent point to make. It’s easy to grouse and attack as some in Democrats and media are doing, but they should be appreciating all the effort of all the folks working on the problem, not just Trump and not just Fauci. They attack because they don’t like how Trump calls out a reporter, but they aren’t really reporting on the extraordinary effort going on here.

The governors, such as Gavin Newsom of California and Andrew Cuomo of New York have also attested to how “on it” the Trump team has been in responding to them and helping them. When even Democrats admit it, you know that it must be hard to deny and that they are grateful for the aid.

Fauci has served a lot of presidents, so if he’s saying the response has been impressive then one might think that he should know, having the breadth of that experience and he’s not a Trump appointee so he has no obligation to say that unless he means it. Perhaps the media might do well to hear what he’s saying here.
