According to the Daily Caller News Foundation, they have obtained an FBI Situational Report that showed Antifa elements were plotting to burn down the Richmond, Virginia federal courthouse.

According to the report, the FBI in Norfolk received information that the courthouse was tagged with a thick black line spray painted on the exterior. That mark “has been used by anarchist/ANTIFA as a marker to designate a target for potential vandalism/arson.”

The FBI was notified of the marking one day after being notified by an officer of another law enforcement agency that unidentified individuals “believed to be members, or associates, of a local anarchist/ANTIFA group,” were “overheard discussing burning down the Richmond courthouse,” according to the report.

The Richmond Police Department said it seized fire accelerants along with multiple handguns, gas masks and sets of ballistic body armor after arresting seven individuals early Wednesday morning. It’s unclear if those individuals are connected to the earlier vandalism of the Richmond courthouse.

The FBI said they could not comment on the report since there were ongoing investigations.

But the Richmond Police Chief Will Smith had previously said that there were “outside agitators” involved in these actions.

“We do have anti-fascists, we have some anarchists, to a large degree, but there’s people from outside of this state and outside of this area that we know that are involved and we’re doing our best to identify them and backtracking what their affiliations are,” Smith said, according to WTVR.

Both Attorney General Bill Barr and other DOJ officials pointed the primary finger at Antifa elements, although Barr indicated that there were other extremists and even “foreign actors playing all sides to exacerbate violence.”

Richmond was also the place where, according to Chief Smith, rioters set fire to a multi-family dwelling with a child inside and then tried to prevent firefighters from getting to the building to put out the fire. The police had to force the way open so the firefighters could get there and save the family, the chief explained emotionally, clearly affected by such a heartless action.

This is both good and bad news. Obviously bad that you have folks plotting this. But good that it seems that the FBI has some understanding into what’s being plotted and that can help presumably head off such crazy things.
