Man Shot At CHOP Blames Police for Not Responding, Claims Attack Was Racial

A man who says he was the man shot early Saturday morning at the CHOP in Seattle is blaming the police for not responding quickly enough in his opinion.

DeJuan Young told local media he was shot shortly after Lorenzo Anderson was shot and killed in the CHOP that morning about a block away. Young said he heard the first shooting and decided to leave the area when he was shot just outside the zone.

Young claimed the shooting was motivated by race. He said he was intercepted by a group of men.

“So basically I was shot by, I’m not sure if they’re ‘Proud Boys’ or KKK,” said Young. “But the verbiage that they said was hold this ‘N—–’ and shot me.”

He says the force was so great it pushed him onto the hood of a car.

“And they stood over top of me and continued to fire,” he said. “I tried to protect myself and got shot in the arm. And they got away.”

In an early video he released on Tik Tok didn’t mention anything racial, just said he had been shot at CHAZ (not CHOP and not outside of it) and that he needed “money” to get his story out there. Not sure what money has to do with getting his story out there. But he blamed police for “left him out there to die,” he was taken to the hospital by CHOP ‘medics.’

When people criticized his story, saying that because he was a CHOP supporter, why was he complaining about not having a police response to the CHOP, he then said that was he was shot just outside of the zone so he said he still believed they should be responsible despite the fact that he supported defunding the police.

He has a GoFundMe up asking for $10,000.

He had a prior GoFundMe in 2018, June two years ago, where he’s described as “being in the wrong place at the wrong time” when it talks about him having a bullet near his spine removed and asks for money to help with is medical injuries.

KIRO7 didn’t get a report from the police about Young’s case and inaccurately described the CHOP situation as a “feud” over the East Precinct as opposed to accurately stating the CHOP has refused to have police there. So the police have not yet weighed in on what if anything Young has said to them about the matter or what they think about his account.

So we may need to hear from the police more as to what actually happened here. But it’s pretty hard to blame police here when you want them defunded.
