The deal reached with between the DHS and the Oregon Governor, Kate Brown, is looking better and better for the United States and the feds at this point.

As we reported, the deal with Oregon officials was basically: do your job to protect the outside of the building and the extra agents we brought in to help protect lives and the building will leave. But only after the attacks stop.

In return for that, Brown promised to send in the Oregon State Police to protect the area around the courthouse and help deal with the rioting elsewhere. Basically that means the Feds can just hang out in the courthouse and come out only as they may need too, because there are supposed to be hundreds of State Police helping out and dealing with the terrorists in the streets.

So guess what was required as part of this deal? DHS Acting Sec Chad Wolf said they would not leave until it was demonstrated that the Oregon State Police could control the area. So as a part of that, the State Police wants to clear out the park that has been a staging area for the rioters. It may not have been officially declared an “autonomous zone” like in Seattle, but people have been occupying it, to a greater or lesser degree, for months and it’s a mess.

This is what it looked like.

Now here was the clearing action this morning.

Sounds like even if Mayor Ted Wheeler and Gov. Kate Brown are playing word games, the police who have to live up to the deal aren’t. This is what the politicians should have done to begin with. But now they’re forced to comply and it’s on them to get it done.

Love the smell of clean park in the morning. It smells like victory.
