Newt Gingrich Drops a Name in Relation to Riot Violence and Fox Has a Melt Down

The White House and its allies have stepped up attacks on a foe typically associated with fragile democracies, military coups and spy thrillers. The so-called “the deep state,” an alleged shadowy network of powerful entrenched federal and military interests, has increasingly become the focus of Republicans who blame such forces for deliberately trying to undermine the new president. Fox News had on former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to talk about the radical leftist violence.

But when they asked him for his final word, he outlined what he thought was a huge problem in many of the cities experiencing the riots and violence — that there was an inability to stop it because of the failure of progressive DAs, such as those funded by George Soros, to hold rioters accountable. But after he brought that up, things got a little weird with the Fox hosts and former Obama administration official/now Fox News commentator Marie Harf.

Harf claimed that it wasn’t true.

But, yes, it is true that a Soros-backed PAC has funded the campaigns of progressive DAs across the country. It isn’t even a question and has been reported by multiple outlets for years including the New York Times, Politico, Free Beacon, and RedState.

Here’s one from my colleague Jennifer Van Laar.

I’ve written multiple stories on it myself and have been warning about it for years.

I noted for example that Kim Gardner, the Circuit Attorney in St. Louis who went after the McCloskeys, was Soros-backed, as was Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, who caused such a storm in the Jussie Smollett case. Foxx is responsible for Chicago.

Here’s what I said in early June about Soros’ work of years now coming back to haunt us.

A Soros contribution often means that a candidate can far outpace opponents in advertising, giving them a great advantage in taking the seat. Soros has poured millions into races across the country to help candidates he wants to win, winning many important races including in Philadelphia and the Virginia suburbs around D.C.

What’s concerning is that his candidates have taken over DA positions in a variety of cities across the country. And if they follow Gardner and their own prior patterns, we could be seeing what happened in St. Louis elsewhere. You may hear of arrests, think that the person is going to be punished for their actions and then nothing ever happens to the person. “Liberal reform” of the DA’s office often means that the DA instead of acting like a prosecutor acts like a second defense attorney, leaving no one to think about protecting the citizens and no one to truly prosecute actions like the country has been experiencing, unless the suspects are able to be federally charged.

That’s pretty much what we’re seeing in some of these cities now — they’re being “fundamentally transformed.”

So there really isn’t a question that this has been going on, the question is why is Fox flipping out and refusing now to admit this basic fact?

Even Fox has covered the story in the past, as Robby Starbuck pointed out.

So why are they avoiding it now? And yes, they owe Newt and their viewers a big apology for this one.
