House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has been making good on some of the promises he has made including forming a Select Committee to look into the “weaponization” of the federal government against the American people.

That drove the Democrats mad. They flipped out big time, with Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) showing how nervous he was over that and lied his head off about what the Committee was about. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) smeared the Committee, calling it the “Select Committee on Insurrection Protection.” He got hilariously fact-checked on that lie by Twitter Community Notes. But you know that means that they’re afraid of what the Committee might find and how it might interfere with their ability to control things.

But now McCarthy is dropping something else on the Democrats that is going to make them flip out even more. He said that he was open to releasing all the security footage from the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, all 14,000 hours of it, which Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) never wanted to release in the presentation of their political narrative.

“I think the public should see what happened on that day,” McCarthy declared. “I watched what Nancy Pelosi did, where she politicized it, where for the first time, in the history as a Speaker, not allowing the minority to appoint to a committee, to pick and choose. We watched the politicization of this. I think the American public should actually see all what happened instead of a report that’s written for a political basis.” He said he wanted to be very “thoughtful” about this.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) cheered McCarthy’s actions and said he was greatly encouraged by the direction in which they were all going.

He said this was part of what McCarthy had said to the Republican members to give the full context and not just the moments focused on the politicized Jan. 6 Committee to “inflame and further divide our country.” Gaetz said part of the deal was that they were “going to get the truth out in front of the American people.”

McCarthy’s statement also made a lot of the base very happy because they’ve been pressing for this for a long time.
