Trump Reveals Some Names Included on VP Shortlist, Highlights Most Important Thing to Consider

Former President Donald Trump did a town hall with Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Tuesday night.

He was measured, confident, and focused on the general election, talking about how his first two priorities coming in would be to get the border under control and then "drill baby drill" to help power the economy and secure our energy independence.

Two main takeaways from the town hall?

He addressed the question of wanting "revenge." That's a Democratic talking point to try to whip up fear about Trump, which is funny given all the chaos that has ensued under Joe Biden compared to Trump. That's all they have left to throw out there since Biden has been such a failure and they can't run on that.

But Trump deftly dealt with that question.

"My revenge will be my success," Trump declared to a lot of audience approval.

He was also asked about who would be his vice presidential running mate and what would be the qualities he would want in a VP.

Unlike Biden, he didn't say he was picking people because they checked an identity box. Instead, he gave a great answer, and what should always be the top answer: it should be someone who could be a good president. Simple, but most important. Funny how that should be what you look for, but it wasn't when Barack Obama was making his choice or Joe Biden was picking his.

Ingraham asked about the people who were on his shortlist for the position.

She listed: Ron DeSantis, Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, Byron Donalds, Kristi Noem, and Tulsi Gabbard.

Trump agreed that these people were included on his shortlist, although he didn't say if there were any other names as well.

He also laughed at how the Democrats were claiming he would never leave, "These people are crazy!"

After the most important point being someone who could step in as president, he said you would want someone who could help bring in voters and he wanted someone with "common sense" to be able to deal with all the issues that they were going to have to deal with that "don't make sense."

"Who wants an open border? Who wants high interest rates?" he said, chastising where Biden has led us, saying he was going to fix things and "get energy prices down."

Trump also ruled out his last remaining opponent Nikki Haley as a possible VP candidate, when he was asked by Graham if that question was "settled."

Trump just mic-dropped that question.

"I settled that about three months ago," Trump said dryly, to cheers.
