Ilhan Omar's Defense of Daughter and Columbia Protests Just Makes Things Worse

We reported earlier on how the protests at Columbia have gotten out of hand.

The school has basically told the students to stay home at this point in order to have a "reset" and in the hopes of calming things down. But as we reported, one of the professors who was a big critic of the radical protesters, Shai Davidai, found out he couldn't get into the school with his access card, because they told him they couldn't guarantee his safety. That's how out of control things are there now. I'm just thinking that blocking the professors and the people who might be attacked or harassed isn't the way to handle this. Dealing with the people causing the trouble is the problem.

Ilhan Omar's daughter Isra Hirsi was part of this protesting group. When they tried to occupy an area of Columbia, she was one of the people arrested and was later suspended. As we reported earlier, she's whining over the consequences of her actions.

But now her mother, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), has stepped into it and is defending the protests on the campus that have caused so much harm and division.

The Columbia protesters have made clear their demands and want their school not to be complacent in the ongoing Genocide in Gaza. Public officials and media making this about anything else are inflaming the situation and need to bring calmness and sanity back.

No, they're not "made to look bad." They are bad, you can't try to fluff it off and somehow blame the police for the criminal actions of the protesters. They don't need any help to look bad. And there is no "ongoing Genocide in Gaza." There is an attempted ongoing "genocide" against Israel by Hamas -- that's the real effort. And the hypocrisy of Omar saying that officials and media who are not fully on board with the leftist narrative are somehow inflaming the situation. Of course, it isn't the out-of-control students who are inflaming anything. But the polls must be looking bad or the backlash must be enormous for Omar to try to blame this stuff on the police. She only makes herself and the situation look worse when she gaslights like this.

I think it's fair to say that she got dunked into next week for her attempt. Here's just a small sample.

Her daughter is a leader of the protests where Jews are berated, the woke praise Hamas, and there are open calls to wipe out the Jewish State.
