On the fourth Thursday of November, Americans carve out an entire day dedicated to being thankful. The thankfulness many of us enjoy is for our family and friends who surround us. One Sudanese man will get to experience his first American Thanksgiving after being reunited with his family after four long years. 

It’s a reminder of how blessed we are as Americans to live here and of what true, overwhelming gratitude looks like.

Four years ago Dyan’s wife arrived in Texas, pregnant and with their two other children. Dyan was made to stay behind because in the turmoil of war the couple had lost their marriage certificate. The issue was finally resolved this year and Dyan was able to be reunited with his family.
