Silicon Valley’s Anti-Conservatism Is Getting Really Ridiculous

It is the world’s worst kept secret that most massive companies of the Silicon Valley – and the broader Tech World – loathe conservatives and conservatism.

Google (Market Cap: $799 billion), Amazon (Market Cap: $770 billion) Facebook (Market Cap: $535 billion) and Twitter (Market Cap: $27 billion) are but four monstrous entities of the many monstrous Tech entities that are openly hostile to anyone to the right of Josef Stalin and/or Mao Zedong.

Sure these monstrously rich companies can spend tons of political money against conservatives. And they do.

New Data Shows Just How Liberal Silicon Valley Donors Are

But a huger and even more pernicious problem for conservatives and conservatism is – these companies dominate the Internet. Which is nothing less than the 21st Century’s chief communications platform.

So if the Valley wants to screw you – they can royally screw you.

We can view this Valley anti-conservatism evolution through a prism with which we are all otherwise familiar. A time schism which has further warped and amplified this and a whole host of other things: Before Donald Trump – and After Donald Trump.

The Valley before Trump loathed conservatism – but they were at least a little more reserved and quiet about it. Sure they screwed us – but they did so at least a little more subtly.

And when they got caught – some of them actually pretended to be upset about the charges of anti-conservatism.

Inside Facebook’s GOP Charm Offensive: “The social media giant contacted the RNC and…top (conservative) organizations to counter allegations of anti-conservative bias.”

Good on American Conservative Union (ACU) leader Matt Schlapp – who didn’t buy into that particular bit of nonsense. He got the joke – and didn’t attend the Facebook meeting.

ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp’s Statement on Facebook Meeting Invitation: “(W)e do not believe that the problem between Facebook and CPAC and the broader conservative community is merely a communication problem.

“Facebook and Mr. Zuckerberg are drawing the wrong conclusion from the negative response from conservatives. It appears that they believe they can avoid having to answer for their actions by hosting conservative luminaries at their state-of-the-art headquarters.

“Facebook has a history of agitating against conservatives and conservative policies, especially when it comes to ACU’s own conference, CPAC….

“We will not be attending this meeting.”

We think Schlapp was in part emboldened because…Trump had entered the fray.

Before Trump, too many conservatives were content to take the Valley’s assaults – and then smilingly attend meetings at which their abusers pretend they aren’t abusing them. But hey – the offices are cool, and the food is great. Look – they have espresso bars in the hallways. Most conservatives were happily lining up to be Animal House’s Kevin Bacon.

Trump – punches back. And has heartened other non-Leftists to join with him in swinging away.

Now that our side is also engaging in the war the Left long ago declared against us – the Left feels freed from the need to pretend to be un-partisan, subdued or in any way restrained. They are now in full-on, full-throated anti-conservatism mode.

We see it in the media. We see it in government schools (Hello, anti-Second Amendment walkouts). We see it even more so on college campuses – even though we had there thought “even more” wasn’t even possible.

And we see it in the Valley.

When you make Hollywood look comparatively open-minded – you’re REALLY swinging for the fences.

And, of course, the Valley is also ramping up its abuse of the massive power that is their ownership of the world’s leading communications platforms.

These are multiple Valley companies – worth hundreds of billions of dollars each – that dominate the way we communicate.

They can quite easily warp or silence our political communications.

And they routinely do.

They abuse American conservatives knowing (I think) that the only entity big enough to stop them or even slow them down – is government. They’ve seen that in Europe and elsewhere.

They abuse American conservatives knowing (I think) that American conservatives are true to our Constitution and its tenets – that private companies are free to assemble any way they wish – and thus won’t use government against them.

So they awful standing question is:

What can we conservatives do about the Valley’s oppressive domination of us and our political communications?
