Ok — so that’s not exactly the words he used, but that’s not too far off the import of comments in a Zoom broadcast with Congresswoman Karen Bass and “journalist” (provocateur) Yamiche Alcindor that was uncovered a few days ago by GOP political operatives.

In discussing alternatives to the traditional law enforcement approach to dealing with the immediate aftermath of a sexual assault, ATTORNEY GENERAL OF MINNESOTA made the following statement in the form of a question to the two women:

“If you’re a woman who’s been a victim of a sexual assault and the assailant has ran away, wouldn’t you rather talk to somebody who is trained in helping you deal with what you’re dealing with as opposed to somebody whose main training is that they know how to use a firearm, right?” he asked.

Here is the video:

The reaction on Alcindor’s face after she realizes what he is saying is priceless.

“The rapist is gone.  The police can’t handcuff him on the spot.  So the State of Minnesota is going to send you a counselor.  Sure, we’ll lose time in gathering evidence of the crime.  There will be delays in terms of getting information that might help identify the perpetrator.  Evidence that could solve the crime might be inadvertently destroyed at the crime scene without realizing its significance.  All of these “complications” might result in rendering a solved crime not capable of being proven in court.  Will other women needlessly be victims because of this change in emphasis? Possibly.  But at least the first responder to arrive after you’ve been victimized will be with someone who can do more than shoot “Expert” on the range.”

Karen Bass is a smart lady.  Liberal to the point of being an extremist.   She is currently the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and is afforded significant respect in the Democrat caucus by her fellow Californian Nancy Pelosi.  She can’t even bring herself to look up as she listens to the moronic rambling of Ellison.

The Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) used by Minnesota law enforcement include several elements that deal with responding to crimes involving sexual assault, and how to handle initial encounters with victims.  The approach now adopted across the country is multi-disciplinary.  Victims are immediately taken to a hospital or other medical facility where they are met by a crisis counselor and nurse with specialized training in the recovery of various forms of evidence that can contain DNA.  Once the evidence is secured, and DNA extracted if available, it can be run through numerous databases of known DNA of people previously convicted of sexual assault — and other crimes as well.  The counselor never leaves the victim while this process takes place.  Law enforcement involvement in gathering information in the form of an interview also involves trained personnel — not the first uniformed officer on the scene carrying a gun.

Every step in the process pursues two parallel goals — recovery of evidence and information, and addressing the physical and emotional trauma suffered by the victim.

Keith Ellison is a moron just for blurting out words from which it can be surmised that — even as the top law enforcement official in the State of Minnesota — he does not understand how this process happens, and what it involves.

It is just disheartening that the people of the State of Minnesota, in considering their choices for electing an Attorney General, opted for this buffoon.
