New York City’s Mayor Bill de Blasio and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have ramped up the rhetoric recently on the supposed “benefits” of a meat-free free diet.

So I guess it’s only natural that we went from Democratic politicians to the unbiased political journalists covering them also chiding Americans about their eating habits.

Amanda Becker, a Reuters correspondent who covers Congress and the 2020 Democratic candidates, weighed in today on a Stouffer’s ad that touted how much meat their lasagna contained:

The Outrage Meter™ is set to low on this one, but the Annoying Meter is kinda high.

So people who eat meat are “losers.” Ok.

If you want to be a winner, however, Amanda is ready to come to your rescue:

And, dadgummit, if you still don’t get it when it comes to making the world a better place and having a healthier body at the same time, Becker says, in a nutshell: “I don’t care”:

Contrary to Ms. Becker’s dietary tips, however, eating red meat as part of an overall balanced diet is actually healthy for you:

Researchers at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, found that people who scarf down higher levels of red meat and cheese are likely to live longer.

People who had three portions of dairy and 120 grams of unprocessed red meat per day benefited the most, the research team found.

“Our findings on full-fat dairy and unprocessed red meat do challenge conventional thinking,” McMaster professor of nutrition and epidemiology Andrew Mente conceded to fellow researchers at the European Society of Cardiology conference in Munich, Germany.

Those eating the most dairy and red meat saw their chances of early death fall by 25 percent and fatal heart attack decreased by 22 percent, according to the researchers, who in their methodology accounted for differences in wealth and education, as well as other health habits.

According to the same study, white meats were also beneficial to your health.

It’s a free country, and Ms. Becker certainly has the right to post whatever she wants on her social media feeds. But when it comes to food menus, perhaps sticking to political reporting might be best. Or doing journo-turned-fashion-consultant work for political candidates, even.
