#BelieveSomeWomen: Democratic Senator Hypocritically Suggests Some of Biden's Accusers Are Disingenuous

As the Joe Biden non-apology rehab tour continues, a number of influential Democrats are coming to his defense. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (CA) is one of them. Another is Sen. Chris Coons, who is from Biden’s home state of Delaware.

Coons’s daughter Maggie had an interaction with Joe Biden that many people have used as an example of Biden’s inappropriate touching.

The image was captured during Coons’s swearing-in ceremony in January 2015. He defended Biden at the time, saying that his daughter did not think Biden was “creepy.”

Fast forward to just a couple of days after the allegations made by former Nevada Democratic Lt. Gov. nominee Lucy Flores were published. Coons was interviewed by the Washington Post about what had been alleged, including what had been said about Biden’s interaction with Maggie Coons in 2015. Here’s what the paper reported:

“She did not think of it as anything,” Coons said of Biden’s moment with his daughter. “All three of my kids have known Joe their whole lives.”

This morning on CNN‘s New Day program, Coons went even further, suggesting that some of the women were motivated by politics because they supported candidates other than Biden:

“There are folks who, I think, are coming forward and standing up about this because they support other candidates, and there are folks who, I think, are coming forward out of a genuine sense of feeling disrespected or unappreciated,” Coons, who is Biden’s successor in the Senate, said in an appearance on CNN.

Watch the segment where he makes the remarks below:

Flores was a staunch supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-VT) campaign for president in 2016, so there’s little doubt she’s the person Coons is referring to when he insinuates some accusations might not be genuine.

It goes without saying that the timing of scandalous accusations is often questioned, especially when it has the potential to immediately impact a public figure’s career. But in this case, these are the left’s rules: Democrats have said repeatedly that we must “believe all women” when they come forward with allegations of inappropriate behavior. They should not be questioned. Just believed.

Oh, wait a minute. That’s their standard response when a Republican is on the hot seat, not a Democrat. Who reaffirmed this double standard for us not even a year ago? That’s right: Senator Chris Coons:

Mr. Coons said that Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez “have nothing to gain” and have put themselves “at legal risk” by accusing Mr. Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct in his teen years.

“It is Judge Kavanaugh who is seeking a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court and who I think now bears the burden of disproving these allegations,” said Mr. Coons in a Monday interview on MSNBC, “rather than Dr. Ford and Deborah Ramirez who should be dismissed with slanderous accusations.”

If Democrats want to go with the “let’s not rush to judgment, let’s wait for the facts” standard going forward and across the board, I’m all for it. Unfounded/false allegations of this nature have the potential to destroy a man’s life. But Democrats conveniently switch positions on this issue whenever it suits them – to the point it gives the rest of us whiplash.

It’s wrong and they shouldn’t get a pass on it just because it involves one of their own.

In the meantime, I eagerly await the media’s condemnations of Coons’s remarks. Waiting, waiting…
