As my RedState colleague Bonchie reported earlier, Twitter’s “Safety” team put an absurd “public interest notice” (read: warning) on a tweet President Trump posted today in which he noted there will be consequences for anyone who (again) tries to set up a CHOP-style autonomous zone in Washington, D.C.

In their explanation, Twitter stated that “We’ve placed a public interest notice on this Tweet for violating our policy against abusive behavior, specifically, the presence of a threat of harm against an identifiable group.”

Seriously.

To recap, here’s what the tweet looks like without the warning:

In the aftermath, conservatives slammed the social media platform over yet another ridiculous attempt at censoring Trump.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was particularly incensed, and brought fire and fury in her response to Twitter’s actions:

McEnany also talked about the need for law and order Monday during the White House press briefing in remarks in which she noted the rash of deadly shootings in Democrat-run cities like Chicago and Minneapolis over the weekend as well as the shootings that took place in the Seattle CHOP, where one person was killed:

If Twitter was really concerned about threats of violence directed towards an “an identifiable group”, there are a whole lot of accounts out there tweeting out videos celebrating the targeting of police officers, but of course they’re not interested in being consistent. This is about virtue signaling and silencing Trump so as to appease the liberal outrage mobs on their platform. It has nothing to do with concern over anyone’s safety. Nothing whatsoever.
