Fox News’s Chris Wallace recently did an interview with President Trump that the left-wing media and Democrats have hailed as the greatest moment in journalism since Woodward and Bernstein (that’s only a slight exaggeration, by the way). Previews of the interview were released a few days before it aired, and you would have thought Wallace worked for the New York Times the way media figures and Biden campaign staffers were over the moon about the questions he asked.

The interview aired Sunday. All weekend, the same people shared the preview clips and highlights from it, as well as write-ups from news outlets that praised Wallace for getting tough with Trump and for scoring an interview no other national media outlet could get.

But after an interview Wallace did this morning with colleague Bret Baier, the newfound respect The Usual Suspects have shown the last few days for Wallace has evaporated because Wallace had the audacity to say that it’s time for presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to come out of the basement and face tough questions:

“The fact is, the president is out there. He’s out there in this broiling heat with me for an hour, he took all the questions. You can like his answers or dislike them but he had answers and Joe Biden hasn’t faced that kind of scrutiny, hasn’t faced that kind of exposure,” Wallace told Fox News’ Bret Baier on Monday.

“You’ve got to feel at some point he’s going to come out from the basement … he’s gonna have to be more exposed and take questions just as tough as the ones I asked this president,” Wallace said. “He’s gonna have to do it with a bunch of people and, of course, he’s going to have those three debates with the president and you know that the president can handle himself in these debates… I think there is an open question there, can Joe Biden do the same?”

Baier said he’s asked Biden to come on “Special Report” multiple times to no avail.

Trump mentioned to Wallace in the Sunday interview that he should also invite Biden to sit down for an hour:

Now all of a sudden the same journalists and Democrats who were praising Wallace less than 24 hours ago have mysteriously gone silent on him after his suggestion.

Is this the beginning of the end of his honeymoon with the left? Methinks so:

Also there was this, which was retweeted by frequent Fox News critic Brian Stelter because of course nothing Fox News does is ever enough for the left-wing media:

Back to Biden, no worries. It’s not like he doesn’t have his next tough interview set up:

That one should be … interesting…
