Because they were most definitely not amused by President Trump’s surprise Sunday “drive-by” around Walter Reed Medical Center to express his gratitude to supporters who’d gathered to pray and wish him well, the mainstream media saw fit to find “medical experts” who they believed they could use to bash the president on their behalf on behalf of the Secret Service agents they claim to care so much about.

They found one in Dr. James Phillips, who is an attending physician at Walter Reed. Phillips posted two tweets on Sunday slamming Trump for the brief motorcade trip, alleging Trump had put Secret Service agents at risk for nothing more than “political theater”:

Both tweets have well over 100,000 RTs as of this writing, much of it no doubt brought on by the number of media outlets and programs he appeared on in the aftermath. MSNBC, The Today Show, Good Morning America and others all had him today on to expand upon his position about how Trump unnecessarily endangered lives with his actions on Sunday.

News websites like The Hill and CBS Baltimore cited Dr. Phillips’ tweets in their reporting, further amplifying a sentiment shared (but which could not be openly expressed in the same way) by journalists in and outside of the White House press corps.

His tweets were also quoted by CNN, where he just happens to (surprise!) be an “analyst.”

The problem with bringing Phillips on as a respectable source who is supposedly commentating from a professionally neutral but concerned perspective is that he is not a mere “critic” of Trump – the guy absolutely hates him, as these screengrabs clearly demonstrate:

Because he’s been called out, it appears Phillips has removed the “Walter Reed attending physician” info from his bio:

Wish I could say I was surprised by this, but I’m not. Mainstream media outlets have a history of misleading viewers and readers by bringing on and/or quoting “medical experts” who they present as objective commentators on President Trump and his policies but who in reality turn out to be anything but.

Think Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Dr. Leana Wen, just to name a few.

Media credibility has hit an all-time low during the Trump administration and for good reason. These media figures shoot themselves in the foot every single day with their blatantly obvious behavior and have no one to blame but themselves for why virtually no one trusts them anymore.
