WATCH: Video Seems to Redeem Raiders Player Accused of 'Grinch' Behavior Towards Young Chiefs Fan

I don't watch too many NFL games anymore, for reasons I've mentioned in prior posts, reasons that mainly revolve around wanting to bypass woke lectures and my desire to avoid the painful reactions I typically have when watching my hometown team, the Carolina Panthers (who are currently 2-13), play.

But every once in a while something that happened during a game catches my attention thanks mainly to people who post about it on Twitter, which is where I saw the clip that is making the rounds of Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jack Jones allegedly psyching a young Kansas City Chiefs fan by pretending to give a touchdown ball to her, only to draw his hand back while still holding the ball.

As of this writing, this particular clip has nearly 31 million views on Twitter. Watch:

The reactions to the moment were all over the map, with some Raiders fans joking that it was best for the Chiefs fan in question to learn about the depth of the rivalry between the two teams early on. Chiefs fans, on the other hand, were not amused and called Jones a jerk and other names that are best not repeated on this site.

Sports reporters and sporting news sites also got in on the action, with many alleging Jones had made it onto Santa's naughty list with his alleged behavior.

In fact, the general consensus was that Jones had given fans another reason to despise the NFL and its players.

But there was more to that brief clip than met the eye according to Jones, who responded to the video and ensuing social media backlash by stating he pulled back when an adult tried to grab the ball out of his hand.

"I didn’t snatch that ball from the kid it was from that blac dude who tried to take it watch it again lollipop," Jones wrote.

A closer look at a slightly different angle of the video from a tweet where the NFL on CBS account refers to Jones as a "Grinch" appears to show the "dude" Jones referenced indeed taking a grab at the football:

For the record, the Raiders won the game 20-14.

I have no allegiances in this debate. I don't know Jack Jones any better than I knew the random person I stood behind in the Walmart line the other day. I also know professional sports players (and former players) can be jerks and that it's easy to make assumptions based on that along with shortened or quick video clips that don't always tell the full story.

While this is far from the most burning issue going on in America right now, my ruling on this is that enough reasonable doubt on the original "Grinch/pr**k" accusation against Jones has been provided by (and credibly so) Jones himself and videos from other angles. Therefore I find him "not guilty."

RedState readers may disagree, but that's where I'm at on it. ;)
