New: Hur Report Brings a Reckoning of Sorts Among WH Press Corps, With Eye-Opening Admissions Being Made

Though President Joe Biden and Special Counsel Robert Hur have faced the especially harsh glare of the media spotlight in the aftermath of the release of the Hur report, another light is being shined on another entity that has had direct ties to witnessing Biden's state of mind firsthand:

The White House Press Corps (WHPC) themselves.

As RedState noted shortly after the report was disclosed to the public, going back to the early days of Biden's presidency, the mainstream media were reluctant to report on Biden's obvious age and mental acuity issues for a number of reasons, feeling it was "insensitive" and oftentimes treating it as a nothing-burger because Biden was their preferred candidate, and they didn't want to disrupt the left-wing narratives they (the press) were trying to help push along.

But with the American people now aware of the damning assessment of Joe Biden's memory issues from Hur, the WHPC have no choice but to cover the issue, dissect it, analyze it, and of course put their own ridiculous spin on why in the scheme of things it's supposedly not that big of a deal in their view.

In the midst of it all, however, has come a reckoning of sorts for the media, with some in the White House Press Corps now privately admitting to Puck News that the issues with Biden's age and memory have been obvious for a while - but that they deliberately chose to only discuss it amongst themselves and keep it primarily to water cooler talk rather than do their jobs in informing the public:

This week, I surveyed members of the White House press corps—reporters, on-air correspondents, photographers, etcetera—and they all emphasized that the symptoms of Biden’s age had become more noticeable in recent months and a frequent discussion topic at the desks behind the Brady briefing room. “Anyone who covers this White House knows he’s showing the signs of his age—he whispers, he shuffles, he misremembers,” one White House reporter told me. “Anyone with an elderly parent knows what this is.”

Since the beginning of Biden’s term, many White House journalists have reported on, or alluded to, concerns surrounding Biden’s age in often gentle or euphemistic ways. Nevertheless, several of the journalists I spoke with said the true significance and importance of that issue, as they observed it, was not reflected in the coverage—often due to the sense that it was sensitive or unseemly, or because there was no obvious evidence that it had affected his performance as president beyond optics. Or, left unsaid, perhaps because they didn’t want to ruin their relationship with the White House by being the lone wolf to speak up.“It was something that felt indelicate to talk about,” one member of the White House press corps told me. In retrospect, some journalists felt like it probably warranted more coverage: “The amount of time we spent talking about it versus the time we spent reporting on it was not the same,” one of the reporters said. “There should have been tougher, more scrutinizing coverage of his age earlier.”

I described them as "eye-opening" admissions not because they are shocking - I mean we all saw what was going on with members of the media glossing over Biden's health issues right from the start - but because it was eye-opening that they are now admitting how they didn't just not cover Biden on these issues; they covered up these issues.

Big difference.

Contrast this with how they hyperventilated over every supposed misstep of Donald Trump's presidency, including expressing faux concern over Trump once walking slowly down a ramp and in another instance, freaking out because he held a glass of water with both hands, and it is pretty easy to understand why trust in the media is at historic lows.

With the MSM now directing the spotlights onto each other, two questions remain: What else about Joe Biden are they trying to hide - and why? I think the answer to the latter is obvious. As to the former, maybe we'll find out more on that front when Hur testifies before Congress in March.

If you're not stocked up on the popcorn, now might be a good time.
