Moore to the Point - Trial of the Century?

Last week's somewhat surprising news of O.J. Simpson's passing brought up a lot of emotions. Most who were old enough to recall the horrific murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson, the infamous Bronco chase, and the subsequent circus surrounding "the trial of the century" were immediately reminded of the drama and hype that swirled around the case and its players for well over a year.

Now, another noteworthy trial is about to begin. It's not nearly as heavy in most respects — no lives were lost, no violence committed. There isn't even really a victim. But for the first time in our nation's history, a former president is going on trial criminally. And it isn't just his former office that renders the situation unprecedented — Donald Trump also happens to be the presumptive Republican nominee for president, and the leading candidate if the polls are to be believed.

Safe to say we've been in uncharted territory for a while now — so much so that it's hard to keep track of where we've been, much less see what's ahead. Trump's Manhattan trial is expected to last six to eight weeks — far shorter than O.J.'s. And it's likely we won't be treated to late-night show "Dancing Merchan" routines. Plus there are three additional criminal trials in the offing. So, will this one be "the trial of the century"? Probably not.

Hopefully, it won't bring us Kardashians, either.
